Entertainment Weekly said:
Adam Yauch, a member of the seminal hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys, has died. He was 47 years old.

The Brooklyn-born musician known to fans as MCA was first treated for cancerous growths in his parotid gland and a lymph node in 2009 and subsequently underwent surgery and radiation therapy, which forced the delay of the Beastie Boys’ most recent album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. His illness has also kept the group off the road, and Yauch missed the group’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two weeks ago.

I knew he was sick but I didn't think it was this severe. This is awful news. RIP MCA.

It really is hard to hate the Beastie Boys, and it's hard to dispute Booty's claim of them being one of the best groups of all time. Really broken up to hear this... I never knew he was sick honestly but I love his music. I remember a few months back actually Beastie Boys were all I could listen to for weeks! At least you could always tell he was making sure to have fun.

That's a shame. Was never the biggest Beastie Boys fan, do like a few songs though, but they definitely did a lot for rap and music in general. R.I.P.

Such sad and horrible news to wake up to this morning, I kinda knew he must have been really bad when he didnt make it to the Hall of Fame ... Ive just been reading all the tributes, I dont think I have read so many wonderful tributes to any one person .. tributes from Boy George to Eminem, Pearl Jam to The Cult, MC Hammer, Ice T, Duran Duran, Moby and many many more but the best one of all from the office of the Dalai Lama

R.I.P to such an amazing person

The time I was lucky enough to see the Beasties
