Sooooooooo many other promotions worth watching. We live in a wonderful and crazy time where there is literally a wrestling promotion to suit everyone's taste.

Nah I think a lot of people on here could stop watching. Maybe not because of AEW though. AEW looks worse then wwe tbh

Honest question. Not hating.
Why do you think AEW looks worse? Understand how the fanboyism is out of control for a company with zero shows, but they're still a company with zero shows lol. How can they be worse yet?

Time for Rant!

Look, you can like both fucking companies.

Even if you are annoyed with WWE right now, we can still want it to do well. However, even if you think it will be just a bunch of... Spot Monkeys or something, AEW doing well will be good for the industry as a whole. WWE won't be the only place for someone to reach a wider audience anymore and wrestlers themselves can have better leverage for more pay or more benefits (like insurance or time off). As well for us fans, if we are tired of WWE at the moment, we can hopefully have another wrestling company that hopefully different enough and is easier to access with a mix of familiar names like Chris Jericho and potentially Jon Moxley (Deam Ambrose) or other people who may want to leave WWE to join them, along with the ability to watch Kenny Omega matches without having to be up at 4am or avoid spoilers throughout the day, and some new names you may not know yet, but can become new favourites. There may be other promotions worth watching right now (one I recommend is MLW, it is all on YouTube and pretty solid), but this is one which has a large financial backing and as we will have in the Fall, a larger network with easy access.

Also, if people think it will be just "Uhhg, High spots 24/7 and no storylines," it probably won't. At least from the impression I got from seeing All In with the build-up to it, watching BTE. and their storylines and even matches from ROH and New Japan, they will have storylines. They will allow people to have characters and explore them. The use of the term "No soapy drama" and their focus on stats and the in-ring action may highlight the matches themselves and give it a sporty feel, but it isn't wrestling without storylines and rivalries or promos and I am sure those will be included more once the TV show happens especially. As well, I have seen them say they want their show to have a little something for everyone, which if they follow through with it, I think can work.

As for criticisms with the potential of "indy style" being nothing more than "A bunch of Spot fests," there is storytelling and selling in matches. The cardinal example people bring up, The Young Bucks, especially over the past couple of years have added more storytelling and variety in their matches while keeping most of their in-ring style. A couple of examples, then vs Roppongi 3k at Wrestle Kingdom last year where the back was targetted by both teams and it ended in a Submission finish with a move targetting the back, along with their match with EVIL and SANADA at Dominion having that as a running theme as well. Probably the best example as a whole, Golden Lovers vs The Young Bucks at Strong Style Evolved, it was a very emotional match. They sometimes may fall into the large high spots example, but they aren't incapable of providing drama and story. If you want a recent example of it, check AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins from MITB this weekend, they both have an "indy style," but are capable of putting on a good match and I am sure if they wrestle again with a bigger feud, they can top it.

As for WWE, I'm not entirely jumping ship with them. I have things I am very frustrated with such as Raw often being a slog to get through with its 3 hour show, the tiredness I have with using legends and part-timers for nostalgia when they are kind of killing it at the same time, the Wild Card stuff recently being a confusing mess, then there are the shady things the company has done as of late with Saudi Arabia which me as someone with a Bachelor's in Poltiical Science, makes me nauseous. But also I have praised them. I enjoyed Wrestlemania a lot this year, MITB was a good show as a whole just with an ending that left me deflated. Kofi's title run on Smackdown has been very good with a great journey getting there. As well, I think the Women's Division is very talented even if they sometimes go overboard with saying their buzz-words around important milestones which sort of cheapens it a bit. Maybe right now I'm going to keep my hands off until Saudi Blood-Money III is done because I don' want to give them my eyes or attention for it.

But guess what? You can like WWE, and AEW and people see Double or Nothing tonight and like it so much so that you want to make it your "number one," let them! People can have their favourite or only watch one if it is their thing, but let them. If you don't like this show, then you don't need to watch. But, let them do their own thing and hope the fans enjoy it and it grows. Because competition, even if they aren't going to be running shows on the same day, is helpful to the wrestling industry. Why?! *slaps head with paw*

HERE'S WHY!

There is no guarantee that AEW will last but at least they have mostly made the right steps as of late and it is a potential start to a new age in Wrestling. I'm excited for this show and there is nothing wrong with that. YOU CAN LIKE BOTH PROMOTIONS OR HAVE A FAVOURITE OF THE TWO IT IS UP TO YOU! There are people who can be frustrating by hyping AEW as "THE THING THAT WILL KILL WWE OR MAKE VINCE CRY!" or saying they can do no wrong, but it is just as unhealthy to cheapen the company, hate it before it even has a show out or their TV show, and it creates negativity in the wrestling community when we should be somewhat positive.

Rant over, except for one last thing.

He's been fairly less active here over the past couple of weeks. He told me he was taking a hiatus due partially to the negativity and toxicity of the whole "AEW vs WWE divide!" and toxic behaviour from certain people. Heck, I haven't made as many posts as I normally would because of similar behaviour. It is because I "CARN'T" deal with it when I have enough stuff I am trying to focus on and I'd rather not use a normal escape of mine in the form of Wrestling as a source of anger.

Doh,

If what they say about stats snd a ranking system are true, Beavie, then if there's a match for the title of the 10th ranked wrestler between Dustin Rhodes and Joey Janela and the top 10 cutoff a month before Avenge the Fallen, and anyone out of the top 10 don't get a match on the show...

Having a sports based product makes it easier to have matches with a story, with results that matter.

That's the impression I got generally. Also, I think the show is Fight For the Fallen, although the show is only starting after, but we get the idea. If it is purely just "let dem wrestle and here is their record" it would get boring after a while, but if done right, I think it can enhance stories or matches that aren't as in-depth story wise. NJPW has a fairly sports-centred approach with post-match interviews like athletes have post-game interviews and it being rare to see an in-ring promo. But, they are capable of telling stories, some of which very long-term. I am sure AEW may be more willing to throw in some of the tropes we have enjoyed more with Western wrestling, but it is possible to have that balance. Imagine someone goes on a losing streak and has an underdog story. Rather than just being added to a match like Curt Hawkins for a title and ending it with a win, instead they can have them slowly start to win more and you start to see their record improve with the actual stats. Or, if they take a nod from NJPW, if they pull a major upset against a champ in a non-title match which makes them eligible for a title match, then they can see the small like 1-34 record against a 29-6 record or something and you know from the bat... It is an underdog match.

I can totally relate to the sceptics, but a new promotion with hype is always super interesting. I am looking forward to see if AEW will deliver.
