I think it's nitpicking. If you think a match is ruined or diminished at all because of bland (not inept) commentary then you're looking for a reason to hate.

He didn't say the matches were ruined... the television production of the match could have been enhanced with better commentary is all he is saying. You're the one doing the nitpicking there, but nothing new about that.

You guys are the ones making it this HUGE deal. Either the commentary matters or it doesnt. Its either passable or its not. The fact that you are dissecting the minutia of it, IE "well if it was better, the match is better" is just Blue.

I think some of the matches will be thrown together, but I think the matches(in ring performance) at wm will be awesome.

No, the PRESENTATION OF THE MATCH TO THE AUDIENCE AT HOME WHO DOESNT FEEL THE ENERGY OF THE CROWD AT THE ARENA IN THE MOMENT... lacks. It takes nothing away from the actual in-ring action... a 5-star match is a 5-star match no matter what... but for the fans who are not live in attendance, commentary can really boost a match.

Can boost what? Do I need to hear BAH GAWD LISTEN TO THAT ERUPTION FOR STONE COLD!! to know that the crowd is fucking hot? No, I have ears. I can hear their emotions go up and down as the match progresses. I don't need to have William Shakespere on the mic to describe it for me.

Do you need commentary when you're watching a movie or a TV show?
Just wanted to draw attention to the infallible logic here. Truly just an unbelievably flawless comparison.

You are suspending disbelief when you are watching a movie or another TV show, yet no commentary is necessary, and if it is (just for the sake of having it there) there is no one who thinks of it. Do you remember the commentators of all of the Rocky fights? No. Know why? Because they were completely irrelevant.

TV shows and movies have running verbal communication throughout the entire production. Wrestling is different. It doesn't have the luxury. The story in the ring is not told through dialogue; it is told through action only. You are comparing apples to oranges, and failing to grasp that is either stubborn or hilariously sad. Wrestling needs something else to keep viewers hooked when they are just watching a screen from their sofa. If you believe that a wrestling show would be just as successful with no commentary, then that is your prerogative. But, lol.

Im saying wrestling would be just as successful with the "bad" commentary everyone seems to be bitching about because it's not THAT bad. Booker T and Josh Matthews aren't like that "Boom Goes The Dynamite" kid. You only notice these guys when they are really good or really bad, and talking about them like they are this VITAL piece of the story being told in the ring is a joke. I guess all of those people who pack the arena's have mini TVs so they can hear the commentary because LORD LORD THEY CAN'T ENJOY THE SHOW WITHOUT IT!! 60,000 people only crammed in to see the amazing story told between HBK and Ric Flair, but no, to them the match sucked because there was no commentary. Give me a break.....

You've clearly stated "no commentary" several points. Even your example was of Rocky fights where there was no commentary. That is a silly position to hold. You site examples that are exceptions to the rule and try to play it off like those therefore dictate the rule. There is also a distinct difference between watching a match on your sofa and watching it in a crowd with tens of thousands of other people. The atmospheres are entirely different, and again I do not know if you are ignoring that out of stubbornness or ineptitude. I do think that Flair vs Michaels would have been worse to watch from my sofa if I had the television on mute. Maybe you're different, but I would bet good money that I am not the only one. Then again, lots of people watch movies without commentary, so maybe those people are enjoy watching muted wrestling matches.

Actually there WAS commentary during those fights.

Actually the correct analogy would be watching the match with the commentators on mute. You can still hear the crowd, but please continue to ignore the little factoid that the only real difference between being there and watching it at home is a better seat. Please don't give me this shit about how "you can feel the vibe" either. You can feel the crowd unless Vince, for some reason, turns all of the crowd and ring mics down.

Your entire argument hinges on this premise, which is such complete and utter bullshit that it's hilarious. We will have to agree to disagree because we will not find common ground with that little gem.

What matches do you think will be awesome??

The only real match i think has the chance of being great (not awesome) is HHH/Taker and we all know how that's going to end up. HHH uses sledgehammer....taker rises up. HHH uses sledgehammer a bunch more. pin's him...taker kicks out... he's pissed, tombstone over.

Danielson /Sheamus could be good...but i don't think it's going to get a lot of time.

Orton/Punk...I don't these guys will have a lot of chemistry.

Del Rio/ Edge ..good not great.

Miz / Cena... we've seen them wrestle a ton before. The only thing now is the ending, and the Rock as Guest Host...whom will likely don a referee shirt, after the first referee goes down.

Long story short...i predict mostly good matches, maybe 1-2 great matches...far from awesome..

The bottom line is this, you don't need the greatest announcer in the world to enjoy a match. While the worst one will get annoying, they are FAR from being as relevant as you people are painting them to be.
