Solid show all around. 8/10. I'm not super upset about the finish personally, because they put themselves into a lose lose situation by booking it in the first place, so people would be talking shit no matter who won or how. I think they tried too hard, but I get what they were going for. Make Fiend look like a beast, show Seth reluctantly doing everything he could, to the point of going too far because he couldn't put Fiend away. It was sorta a modern era take on Foley vs Taker when you sit and look at it objectively. It sets up for a rematch, while giving the heel the upper hand going into it. It makes Bray look unstoppable. Like, it sets up so many pieces of this story. The only thing I see being damaged in this scenario is the Cell match itself, by having the match end in a DQ when the whole point is to end a feud for good by any means necessary inside one of "the most sadistic structures."

Maybe it is different for the subbed version but the dude doesn't sound like he is laughing, sounds like he found something he liked on Deviant Art if anything. lolol

Yeah...that's it...

Although I swear I've seen a version with
Cell completely losing it...although his
original laughing in this version is what
I was thinking of.

Serious question.

Are you drunk right now? intoxicated with a little bit of the bubbly? perhaps drugs? perhaps as the street profits woudl say, the smoke?

Hell in A Cell is no DQ...ANYTHING GOES...literately anything! hell they said it themselves on twitter! yet somehow, someway, they have the ref decide "Oh! im gonna ignore the fact this guy is a monster and its a no DQ match so anything goes! im gonna atc like a sledgehammer IS SOMEHOW TOO FAR WHEN WEVE HAVE DONE IT COUNTLESS TIMES BEFOREHAND"

This is allmost as bad as WCW having people lose a Falls Count Anywhere match by having them lose by countout! Its allmost that bad! and thats BAD!

Dont get me wrong, the match was good, they put the Fiend over incredibly strong, god like level of strength, but the DQ finish was just a bad move every way you look at it, did you not hear the DEAFENING chants of RESTART MATCH? RESTART MATCH? that makes it worse! the fans HANDED WWE a chance to save their mistake! they had a chance to call an audible on the fly and save the match from being ruined and they DIDNT TAKE IT, making everyone even more angry.

the WWE on Fox twitter acount said ANYTHING goes in Hell In A Cell...ANYTHING! and guess what? they said that all night long! so why the hell would they just ignore that fact!?

Nobody is gonna remember the awesome Becky Sasha match, nobody, because the ONLY thing people are talking about is how fucking stupid that ending was, its stupid.

There are COUNTLESS different and better ways they could have told this story, and each one better, its like i said in a tweet, just when you think you know what worst case scenario is, WWE fidns a way to show you the REAL worst case scenario on a fairly consisttant basis...

I said that 6 months ago during the Money in the Bank PPV, AND ITS STILL RELEVANT NOW.

The more i think about the ending to this match, the more annoyed i get.

Speaking of which.
You guys better get use to me rubbing salt in that wound
cause I'm NEVER going to stop doing it.
Lets be honest with eachother, WWEs fucking up so horribly you aint gotta do anything, they will rub all that sweet sweet salt in the wound for you.

Big Mallet...Okay...
Little Mallet...Not Okay...

?

Bryan is gone!

Bryan & Vinny are always good value...
& they know what they're talking about.

Its December to Dismember all over again...

Mick Foley finished a Hell in a Cell match
half dead! Mankind vs. Undertaker had a
fucking finish! Shawn Michaels vs. Taker
had a fucking finish! Charlotte vs. Sasha
had a fucking finish!

But Roman vs. Strowman...Nope...
Rollins v. Fiend...Nope...

What an absolute fucking joke...

And you know what's great?

I'm not mad...I'm just laughing...

& I can't stop...

?

Ya wanna know what makes it even worse?

If you read the recap youd know that, after the fiend surprise attacked seth, revealing after all the shit seth did eh was okay, the crowd gave WWE what was basicly a get out of jail free card...they chanted RESTART MATCH! RESTART MATCH! RESTART MATCH! and it was loud and crystal clear. WWE had a chance to instantly change course, call an audible and decide to restart the match and give The Fiend the win.

And what did they do? well, they ddint do that and made people angry, its like Brayn said, at some point, its just funny, because you cant make this shit up lol.

Its just sad, and i died when Bryan died because i didnt even realise the mallet thing until he pointed it out, and then i died as he died, then he went down to the floor and i died again lol.

So let me understand this.. a match that can’t end by DQ or even an act of God, ended in match stoppage? And, even though I love that they’re pushing the fiend as this unstoppable monster... like 20 curb stomps and a pedigree and he’s still kicking out?... I mean... come on... that literally means this guy is unstoppable and could decimate event Brock or whomever if he wanted to. It was too much.
4/10. And the only reason a 4 is there at all is because I enjoyed some of the hell in a cell match and the red lights idea.

Wait, hasn't it been back to back years where the main event of Hell in a Cell, a No DQ match, ended without a winner/a wonky finish?

They have legit killed one of the greatest stipulation matches of all time.

Serious question.

Nah, i watched the show then immediately left for work. So I wasn't drunk. You can't get drunk off a meme. I don't do drugs. And I think you have been misinformed about what the Street Profits mean by smoke.

It was different. According to the official (aka kayfabe) rules of professional wrestling (damn I wish I still had the link to the one I used to know of), the referee has final judgement of a match at his or her discretion, regardless of stipulation, as long as said match is sanctioned. Which this one was. The referee felt the match, Seth in particular, was getting too out of control for him to officiate it any longer. He warned Seth, hell, even begged him not to at risk of him stopping the match. And remember, it was not just a sledgehammer, it was a sledgehammer directly to the metal objects piled on the Fiend's head. Aka attempted murder. If you really want to get into it, look at the Hell in a Cell match between Kane and Mankind BACK IN THE ATTITUDE ERA. How did that one end? No contest because Stone Cold interfered. Not attempted murder, mind you, it only took one or two kicks and punches for the ref to call for the bell.

Look, I know I'm probably not gonna change anyone's mind. Especially since most of the people complaining were ones that were saying they were switching to AEW even before this show, or giving up hope on WWE, etc. But I like to make sense of things. It's what I do. There is logic behind everything. Go watch this video right here. It's only like 5 minutes long (lot of plugging or stuff, idk, i stopped listening after he made his actual points. And for the record, I've never heard of the dude, just wanted to see some varying viewpoints on this and stumbled onto this one along my search). His viewpoint is very similar to mine on this match, but he explains it much better in his video than I can in text. Even if you're still mad about the result(and in case I didn't make it clear with the spacing above, I'm talking to everyone now, not just replying to Insane), or you still think it's a bullshit way to book the match, or whatever the case, that's fine. But I challenge any of you to come up with valid counterarguments to the points made in this vid, because being upset or disappointed or whatever and thinking none of it makes sense are two completely different things. You're upset cuz the Fiend lost? Great, I'm not gonna try to sway you away from your feelings on that. But I really do feel like a lot of people are missing a lot of the story here, and giving up on it way too soon as a result.

Some people hate telling you "I told you so." Fortunately, I am not one of those people. I told you so. I have never lost confidence that WWE would really fuck up with the Fiend. And did they fuck up royally. They overpowered him, which was stupid. Hell, even the Undertaker goes down at some point. And the overpowered character makes no sense lying there on the canvas as Seth spends minutes outside the ring looking for weapons. He can get up for tons of curb stomps but a chair shot puts him down for minutes? I mean the ridiculousness of it all. I knew they were going to really fuck it up, but that even surprised me how much they did.

And @baseballmm You just took over 7 points for one match so you're not allowed to get mad at anyone else anymore for taking off lots of points for one match ?

Honestly, I wasn't disappointed because I saw this coming... well not "this" exactly, but I saw a stupid ending well on it's way. And then all of the unannounced matches taking up the entire middle of the show was just a momentum killer. I couldn't get too overexcited about Gable beating Corbin because it just really didn't mean anything.

Basically, start off with your strongest match, put a lot of filler in the middle, and send your fans home pissed with your main event. The business plan of the ages.

Well he doesn't really make any points at all when you get down to it. First off, I know why the referee stopped the match. I am sure everyone knew why it was stopped in story line. That's not what people are irritated about. They are irritated because that IS the story line. They could have picked another story line and that negates his entire viewpoint.

Second, it's nonsense to claim that the Fiend didn't want the championship. If he didn't want the championship, he wanted carnage, then why did he pick Seth Rollins? There are a LOT of other wrestlers he could have tortured. But he chose Rollins because Rollins WAS the champion. So that point is complete nonsense.

And in regards to Bray Wyatt not getting the belt, people are upset about this because Wyatt was hot when he first came on the main roster. And the WWE fucked it up. So they have another chance here and most people wanted to see him with the belt. No one thinks the Fiend was buried in this match. But they see it as things to come that WWE will screw up the Bray Wyatt character again because that's the sort of path they did once and look like they may again.

Whether the Fiend wanted the belt or not is irrelevant. The fans wanted it on him and that's why they are pissed. It is their wants, not his that matter to them.

So yeah, I don't see that anything this guy said is worth anything.
