Well he doesn't really make any points at all when you get down to it. First off, I know why the referee stopped the match. I am sure everyone knew why it was stopped in story line. That's not what people are irritated about. They are irritated because that IS the story line. They could have picked another story line and that negates his entire viewpoint.
Second, it's nonsense to claim that the Fiend didn't want the championship. If he didn't want the championship, he wanted carnage, then why did he pick Seth Rollins? There are a LOT of other wrestlers he could have tortured. But he chose Rollins because Rollins WAS the champion. So that point is complete nonsense.
And in regards to Bray Wyatt not getting the belt, people are upset about this because Wyatt was hot when he first came on the main roster. And the WWE fucked it up. So they have another chance here and most people wanted to see him with the belt. No one thinks the Fiend was buried in this match. But they see it as things to come that WWE will screw up the Bray Wyatt character again because that's the sort of path they did once and look like they may again.
Whether the Fiend wanted the belt or not is irrelevant. The fans wanted it on him and that's why they are pissed. It is their wants, not his that matter to them.
So yeah, I don't see that anything this guy said is worth anything.
Why are people irritated that that's the story? Because it's not how they would have booked it? The story is most likely not even over, so how can it be judged so quickly? Once upon a time people thought Matt Hardy slowly going crazy was pretty dumb as well, but that's one of the most loved stories out there now. It's gotta fully play out in order for it to properly be judged as a storyline.
He chose Rollins because he was the champion, yes. But is it entirely clear that his motivation is the championship itself? Or just to prove a point to the person with the championship? Could it be as stated in the video, that he thinks Seth is greedy or too self absorbed or over-confident, which is due to him having the title? His motivations regarding the actual championship were never made clear, but what was made clear was that he wanted to hurt Seth. Remember, we've seen the "hurt" aspect come into play thus far, but this is a deep character... the "heal" aspect shouldn't be ignored. Maybe the only way to heal Seth Rollins is to first hurt him. I'm getting a lot of Cena/Kane Embrace the Hate feud vibes from where this story has gone and is heading.
You can kick a man's ass and cause all the physical pain you want. But Bray's game is, and has always been, mental anguish as well. By staying down and taking quite literally everything Seth had, without fighting back during the second half of the match, and still being seemingly unphased by it, it sends quite the message, more than a simple beatdown would. Allowing Seth to think at the end that he finally had conquered this monster, only for the Fiend to come back once again, just as strong as he was before... what could possibly be going through Seth's mind after such a thing? Cuz it sure as fuck wasn't "well at least I'm still champ".
Again, I have no problem with people being upset. Everyone's perfectly entitled to how they feel about certain things. But I'm still not fully understanding the reason behind it, other than they just wanted the Fiend to be champ, and since that didn't happen, it was automatically shit. I suppose I can see people losing faith in the future booking of this character, but at the same time, I personally find it to be giving up too soon. This story has just begun. Say Fiend DID win the title. What logically comes next? He'd have presumably beaten Rollins definitively enough that he wouldn't be in any condition to get a rematch any time soon. He'd hold the title for a brief while and then no matter how good or bad he was booked during his reign, people would shit all over it when he loses the title anyway.
I think as far as the fans wants goes, it's important to take into consideration, but not every single thing needs to just cater to the majority of the fans. Both the writers and the wrestlers, and really just anyone involved... they're all the artists, and pro wrestling is art. Obviously art is subjective, but is it really art if the artist(s) don't get to put themselves, their feelings, their stories, etc into the medium? I truly don't think that WWE is doing this to spite their fans, or go against their wishes, or whatever. I believe they are giving them, giving us, exactly what we want. It's just not in the way we wanted or expected. But it's coming regardless. I'm more than willing to give this flower the time to bloom instead of just saying it's ugly because it's only a seed
