But hey on the bright side Rowan defeated Reigns...with Thanks
to Luke "Motherfucking" Harper! Is this a Bludgeon Brother thing
or was Harper dressed in his Wyatt Family rags?

Harper was wearing a heavy metal band shirt, similar to what Rowan has been wearing since he started teaming with Bryan.

The show was good except for the RAW commentary team and some of the booking decisions (having Lunch/Banks end in DQ, having AJ/Cedric on the preshow).

Like I'm sure I would have enjoyed the RAW matches 10 times more if I just had my volume muted. I wish there was an option to mute commentary. I should probably just learn Japanese so I can hear Funaki (no. 1) on Japanese commentary

Just like Stone Cold said about overshadowing in that podcast, this ppv is overshadowed by Kofi’s CLEAN win over Orton. We had a guy who’s barely a good mid-carder beat one of the best wrestlers of the century in a CLEAN manner. I don’t care about how good other matches were, that idiocy overshadowed everything.

But...doesn't Kofi defeating Orton clean make him more than a "Good Mid-carder"?

I mean isn't Kofi beyond the "Mid-Card" label now? His booking since Wrestlemania
has been solid & he's defeated some quality opponents since then.

That wasn’t the point. I’m saying that Kofi’s wrestling skills are not on the main-event level, nor is his presence or charisma. He is basically 3x worse than Orton in every aspect and won clean anyway. Guy who throws around pancakes, dresses as a circus performer and doesn’t even have his own theme song is beating one of the future hall of famers clean, how swell!

Well...they book Roman as a "top guy" & he has no presence or charisma,
he does the same moves over & over again all the while still dressing like &
using the theme song of his old faction...so I don't think Kofi doing it is that
bad to be honest.

Ye, I guess my standards are too high. Wrestlers don’t need to be good with wrestling, nor charisma, nor presence, just PUSH god dammit

I mean...you're basically 100% right.

The WWE just picks a performer & pushes them...
no matter their actual skill set or how the crowd
responds to them.

I've also noticed the WWE loves to push their own
"In House" developed talent over indie recruits.

Ye, this sport is a joke man. Just look at guys like Hogan and Reigns, 90% of wrestlers could have the exact same “success” if they had that booking. And 10 years from now Roman will be a legend and considered better than guys like Daniel Bryan and Eddie Guerrero who were better than him and Hogan in every sort of way but just haven’t been booked that way. If you’re a stooge, if you’re tall and have appropriate weight, you will make it. You can be 4/10 wrestler(read: Hull Cogan) and still be on the top. Sad... But that’s mostly WWE’s jam, some other promotions don’t go in that direction.

Kofi beating Orton clean though is supposed to happen if he’s being pushed. Kofi has upped his game and is not the same Kofi. Kofi arguably would’ve lost the last match, so it’s not like Orton is overshadowed. Kofi is in the fight of his life with Orton and pulls off the win. What you’re suggesting is having one of the biggest faces have to cheat to win. Doesn’t work that way usually.

I think it would’ve been even more dumb to have Kofi cheat to beat Orton. Orton isn’t unbeatable just because he’s a top talent. That mindset is skewed. Kofi beating Orton is simply the passing of the torch and happens in all sports: the veterans, although still amazing and great, finally get outperformed and beat by the new younger talent.

There are plenty of ways for a face to not win clean in a non-heel way. And just because he’s pushed doesn’t mean he should beat anyone who faces him for the title, if they want that then don’t put in there guys like Orton. Last match looked more like a tie, not like an Orton win so that’s why this suggests that Kofi is better, which is bs. To me, outside of kayfabe speaking, Kofi isn’t that much better than he was 5-6 years ago.

Of course Orton is not unbeatable, but the guys who should beat him definetely shouldn’t be Kofi-like wrestlers, especially if it’s for the title and a second match. What do you even mean by “passing the torch”? Dude, Orton is just 1 year older, he still wrestles in his prime and comparing their skills it looks plain ridicilous for Kofi to win. It’s not like Orton is Undertaker’s age and Kofi is Adam Cole, both Orton and Kofi are veterans of different levels who still wrestle in their prime.

Passing the torch as far as “I’ve had my time to shine, now you take over and I’ll help you prove your worth.” To be the man you gotta beat the man, and that doesn’t mean it can’t be a clean win just because someone is a veteran. Clean wins help solidify how good someone is and as of now, Kofi is one of the top faces and he’s supposed to be that good. This type of mentality has been happening for years and makes sense.

Also Orton nailed mid air RKO that no one has kicked out of. Kofi was lucky enough to roll out of the ring and not get pinned, even the announcers said that Orton had it. Point is that Orton got a little sidetracked and went too far and that’s when Kofi snapped. Otherwise Orton had that match it seemed and that’s how it was sold.

Excluding a couple of things here and there I didn't necessarily like, for the most part I thought the show was just fine and gave it a 6/10. And that being said, thoughts:

- Kind of digged this new (I guess) presentation of the matches with the dimming of the lights while the ring announcer presenting each opponent. Hey, at least it's something new and different, so props to whomever came up with the idea...

- No surprise in RooDolph winning the RAW tag straps and obviuously non suprisingly Rollins retained the Universal Championship in the main event. I really liked the finish and more so Rollins digging out a pedigree before setting up for the forth and final stomp, which at least made Braun still looking strong in defeat. I mean, one can call him a loser but, hey, it took four stomps and a pedigree so I'm okay with it.

As for the Fiend, well, it's not like we were not warned about it and all WWE have do is the obvious, thus have him beat Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell and give him a (very) lengthy title run...

- Bailey versus Charlotte went down excactly as I figured it would go, down to even Bailey cheating to win, something I was very adamant about in recent posts. This was the best (and only, quite frankly) way for Bailey to win here and I should once more give WWE some props for not messing this up...

- Becky and Sasha was pretty awesome and I guess at the end of the day, the finish kind of made sense. I mean, they were not going to beat Becky just yet and they obviously couldn't have Sasha lose on her first PPV back after all this time out so they took the safe route whilst obviously setting up another match which I am quite certain will take place inside Hell in a Cell. I feel that's when Sasha wins the gold...

- Kofi beating Orton was the obvious choice and, quite frankly, the only choice. Not only does this close the final chapter of their feud, but it also solidified Kofi as a top player. Looking back from ever since Kofi won the belt at Wrestlemania, this feud with Orton was the most signifcant of them all, Orton being the biggest name Kofi has defeated. That being said, I am still sticking with my guns in regards to the prediction I made a few months back: Kofi will defend the WWE championship on the first Fox show, probably by issuing an open challenge, which will be answered by none other than Brock Lesnar. To quote Paul, this ain't a prediction, it's a spoiler...

Seriously though, if they are looking to make a big splash on the first show on FOX, I honestly can't think of a better way...unless the Rock shows up...

- Welcome back Luke Harper !!! (did not see that coming)...

- Didn't think they'd go with the Revival last night but very glad they did so, considering they are indeed one of the very best tag teams all around. Hopefully they get a proper push, like they deserve...

- Bliss and Nikki retained...meh...shouldn't have changed my mind in regards to the outcome but whatever...

Hey A-Lex!

Good to hear from you!

As for the Fiend, well, it's not like we were not warned about it and all WWE have do is the obvious, thus have him beat Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell and give him a (very) lengthy title run...
...which then makes Seth's wins over Le$nar & Strowman completely meaningless...
& overall makes Seth a complete failure as a Universal Champion.

Unless the Fiend doesn't win & becomes the new "Eater of Pins"

I still don't understand how this even adds up...

The Fiend....fuck it! BRAY WYATT has wrestled one televised match
in how long? And he is now possibly getting a Universal title shot in
a HIAC match...

Fuck that!

They may as well just give the belt back to Le$nar at this point.

- Bailey versus Charlotte went down exactly as I figured it would go, down to even Bailey cheating to win, something I was very adamant about in recent posts. This was the best (and only, quite frankly) way for Bailey to win here and I should once more give WWE some props for not messing this up...
Yeah...but in 3:45?

In Charlotte's hometown?

Why so little time?

I mean I didn't see the match...and I'm not watching it...
but on paper it reads like a squash match.

- Welcome back Luke Harper !!! (did not see that coming)...
Yay!

Harper! Harper! Harper! Harper! Harper! Harper!

Of course Roman will likely defeat both of them in a 2 on 1
handicap match soon...hell...that might be the main event
of the first FOX SDL...

Because say it with me now...

GOTTA MAKE ROMAN LOOK STRONG!!!

A lot of the matches were fast paced. e.g. the main event was only 11 minutes but it felt longer because Seth and Braun were really going at it in the beginning. Charlotte got her offence in, it wasn't a squash. Just Heel Bayley cheating to win and then yeeting out of there to avoid Charlotte beating the crap out of her
