The Oklahoma Athletic Commission has banned all “combative sportsâ€￾ including pro-wrestling and mixed martial arts indefinitely. The banning which comes into effect from March 31st is a direct results of an impending lawuit from UFC who want to appeal against a 4% pay-per-view tax imposed by the state.

The ruleing is expected to effect 200 events that happen each year across Oklahoma.

Below is a copy of the commision letter sent to local promoters.

So Dana White is a bitch and pro wrestling fans get punished? Way to go.

Wow another reason Oklahoma sucks. A good lawyer could get around that, being that wrestling isn't really a "sport"

Yep, all Vince has to do is get one of his lawyers to argue that "Sports Entertainment" is not "combative sports". Though honestly, do the WWE even hold a lot of events in Oklahoma?

They visit OKC once or twice a year. They had Raw when I was in town one time

That's not too bad then, they can work around it if they have to, but I still don't think they'll have any trouble getting past this.

This isn't too uncommon of a thing. The WWE stayed out of Oregon for a full decade due to sanctions not making it worth it. My guess is that this will only last until Oklahoma realizes that they're losing this good income from MMA/WWE.

Not even a big deal. It will hurt them more than it will help then in the long run. The only disappointment here for me is that Impact Zone Wrestling is a decent indy promotion in Oklahoma. Every now and then I go to Oklahoma to watch it, but I guess that's a thing of the past for now.
