BLOCK C & BLOCK D THIRD ROUND MATCHES
The sixth night of the PPW World Championship G1 Climax began with the third round of Block C matches.
The first match of the night was the first for Kota Ibushi who was replacing the injured Ricky Knight Jr and he took on the “Mercenary” Steve Maclin. Ibushi got the win at the sixteen minute mark with the Golden Star Powerbomb.
Next Seth Rollins and Wardlow squared off in a back and forth match that lasted for fourteen minutes. The conclusion saw Wardlow lay Rollins out with a brutal clothesline and then proceeded to hit four powerbombs to get the pin.
Then Roman Reigns versus Kaito Kiyomiya in the second last match before the intermission. It saw Kiyomiya get the upset win with a combination of a Tiger Suplex and then a Shining Wizard.
After that the duo of Samoa Joe and John Cena closed out the third round of block C matches in a twenty minute classic. The ending saw Joe fight out of an attempted AA and landed behind Cena and locked in the Coquina Clutch and this saw Cena pass out.
INTERMISSION
Back from intermission and Austin Theory took on Alex Shelley, in a match that lasted thirteen minutes. The former got the win by cutting off an attempted springboard from the latter which resulted with Shelley landing chest first on the top rope. From here Theory dragged his opponent off the rope and onto his shoulders and then hit A-Town Down for the pin.
Next Bryan Danielson faced off with Alexander Hammerstone which lasted sixteen minutes. Despite some rule-bending from the “American Dragon” aka Danielson he would fall victim to the Nightmare Pendulum.
The penultimate ultimate match of the night saw the “Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay take on the “Canadian Colossus” Josh Alexander. They wrestled for twenty five minutes and the match ended in a double pin situation.
Finally Kazuchika Okada faced Christian Cage in the main event of the night. The former dominated early on but the latter got the advantage after he poked his opponent in the eye, which allowed him to hit the Killswitch but Cage didn’t go for the pin. Instead he dragged Okada to one of the corners and then climbed up and then attempted but failed to hit a Frog Splash as Okada got his knees up.
Okada got back to his feet and then dragged Cage up and hit the Rainmaker for the pin.
