^That doesn't look that bad to be honest. How much did you say it cut down your RAM and CPU usage Solidus?

CPU usage is under 1% when I log in.
RAM usage on 7 was around 950mb after logging in, no third party programs running. On 8, it is around 500mb. I could get that to 400mb with some extreme optimization I think.
The boot time on 8 isn't as impressive as claimed, taking around 30 seconds. Shutting down takes around 17 seconds.
All in all, it is better than Windows 7, but when we compare it to Arch Linux (what I also run), it's still really bad. Arch boots in about 16 seconds, uses 86mb of RAM after logging in, and shuts down in 4 seconds.
Why can't the commercial giant keep up?

yah, there are couple programs that turns windows 8 into desktop interface. i got windows 8 and when I open up, I see desktop interface instead of the metro style.
