3Rihanna and Drake Cozy Up in Canada

Here we go again. Just as rumors subsided that Rihanna and Drake were an item, a new photo of the “What’s My Name?” collaborators has surfaced. In the grainy image, which was taken on June 12 when RiRi was on tour in Canada, Drake is seen with his arm wrapped around the pop star in a private booth at Buonanotte Supperclub in Montreal. The two enjoyed the weekend together, attending the Montreal Grand Prix and Drizzy even popped up at a couple of her shows. But while it may appear otherwise, Rihanna’s camp insists that the two are not dating and are good friends.

Serving as her second #1 record in the country, ‘4′ received a gargantuan promotional push courtesy of the starlet’s headlining performance at this years ‘Glastonbury Festival’.

Expected to top the Billboard 200 chart in the US this coming week, the album is on course to become one of singer’s most commercially celebrated releases, despite the speculation that surrounded it’s success earlier on in the year.
With the performer’s innovatively named BeyHive more eager than ever to show their loyalty to the Grammy winner, this UK #1 album is sure to be just one of many.
Elsewhere on the chart, Rihanna’s ‘Loud‘ to a tumble slipping down #2 places to #11 whilst Jessie J’s ‘Who You Are’ leapt up by 5 places after 18 weeks in the chart.
It seems that Britney Spears‘ ‘Femme Fatale’ was once again paying tribute to her live singing voice, as it was nowhere to be seen in this weeks Official UK Top 40.

The singer/songwriter who has co-written such hits as Britney Spears‘ ‘Till The World Ends’ revealed that she will experiment with the likes of Led Zeppelin, ACDC and many more on the LP.
Speaking to DigitalSpy, she revealed:
“I’ve been listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and probably the one CD I haven’t taken out of my record player in a long time is Iggy Pop’s The Idiot”.
She went onto reveal, “I’ve been pretty much in this ’70s rock and roll kick and I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that’s just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f**k, so we’ll definitely put a bit of rock and roll in it.”
With Lady GaGa making the road to Pop Eccentric Glory a hard and difficult journey, perhaps this new direction will help put Ke$ha in a lane of her very own.
For despite the singles chart success she has enjoyed in the last year, she and her fans have found it difficult to make a concrete name for themselves in the world of Pop debate even two years after debuting.
Here’s to hoping this upcoming album does for Ke$ha what she, her label and her fans are hoping it will do.
Mariah Carey Joins X Factor USA?
Pop belter Mariah Carey has cause to celebrate today, for she is reportedly set to join the cast of X Factor USA when it makes its way to our screens this September.

On the UK version of the show, each judge takes their contestants to their homes abroad and are assisted by a friend from the music industry to choose the final four or three acts for each of the judges respective categories.
The ‘Hero‘ singer is set to serve as an advisor to the show’s star Simon Cowell, assisting him in choosing the contestants that will fill the spots in his category.
This means that Ms.Carey will be replacing former singer Sinitta who fills that role in X Factor UK.
Speaking to a publication today, Sinitta is reported to have revealed:
Well, let’s just say feathers will fly if Mariah takes my spot. Although she is a mega diva vocally, you can expect another ‘X Factor’ USA drama. I won’t just roll over and take it. I hope she can run in high heels.”
Either way, it is very refreshing to know that the series will have such a high presence of talent.
For with Cheryl ‘I Couldn’t Carry A Note Even If Armed With Mary Poppins Carpet Bag’ Cole out of the picture, the show has an even greater chance of facing up to rival show ‘The Voice’ which has received critical acclaim for its focus on the vocal abilities of its competitors.

Adele must be wondering exactly how much positive karma she built up for herself in another life, for today she has received another bountiful blessing from the Pop Culture gods.
As if her record breaking sales for LP ‘21‘ weren’t enough to cement her as this decades reigning album chart Queen, today she received even more news that has seen her change the course of music history.

Since the year of 2000, only 16 singles have ever achieved this feat which include GaGa’s ‘PokerFace’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling’ by the Black Eyed Peas.
This new comes just weeks after it was confirmed that her album ‘21′ was the first LP to also shift a million units this year and has now sold a total of 2.6 million copies.
This led to her debut album ‘19′ shifting a further 800,000 copies this year alone even without a single promotional effort behind it.
With Adele being one of the only artists to maintain a highly perceived artistic credibility whilst enjoying enormous chart success, it is worth wondering if her success is a clear and very harsh response from the public to the seemingly never ending list of talent deficient starlets.
For it is ironic that is the girl who does not fit the aesthetic or even sonic mould of what a Pop star should be, is leaping heaps and bounds above her manufactured competitors who have failed to match her commercial prowess despite all their gimmick ridden efforts.
Here’s to hoping that Adele’s success inspires the emergence of a new generation of artists whose talent lies in their artistic attributes and not their ability to alternate between wigs and lip sync tweaked and polished vocals into unsuspecting microphones.

The 17 year old ‘Swagger Jagger’ singer ditched her long locks for a new shaved hair do, as evidenced by new shots of her as she walked around London this week.
Granted Ms. Lloyd is still, free, and finding herself, anyone who knows the industry knows image consistency is key (at least per project). Just ask Rihanna and that dusty red wig.

It’s been almost 3 months since songbird Mariah Carey gave birth, and just as many months since anyone has seen her. The mother of twins’ self-imposed exile ended today after she spotted in New York City as she returned to her Manhattan residence.
The 41 year old is reportedly gearing up to serve as a mentor on Fox’s X Factor USA, ahead of the release of her next studio album (currently slated for a late 2011/early 2012 release window).
