For Combusken, offensive moves do best. I suggest at least a fire and a fighting move and two other moves for coverage.

Poochyena...long term isn't the best and there are better dark types. Dustox isn't the best long term either and Zigzagoon...give it all the HM moves!

That's good to know. I'm really only about four hours into the game and have been using them mostly because I've had them the longest. I leveled up Poochenya because he was the one I had that was most effective against the girl in the first gym I had to beat.

Use the most powerful and accurate moves. When you're playing in game, you don't really need to worry too much about having a perfect moveset. STAB + 3 powerful coverage moves should be good. STAB = a move that's the same type as your Pokemon. Like Thunderbolt on Pikachu. Coverage = different move types. For example.. Pikachu with Thunderbolt (Electric/STAB), Surf (Water), Brick Break (Fighting) and Iron Tail (Steel).

That definitely helps. Yeah, it was happening so often that I was hoping I wasn't passing on any moves that actually might be important for later on

You're going to have to teach mons HMs in order to get further in the game (Strength to move boulders, Cut to remove trees, etc). The shitty thing is the moves are usually pretty weak and you can't get rid of them like you can with other moves. So it's best to have 1 mon with most of the HM moves so that you don't hinder the rest of your team. Surf is pretty good though, and Strength too if you have a Normal type. But everything else pretty much sucks. People usually use Zigzagoons as their HM whores lol.

Thanks This will give me a lot to read and take in. I'm one of those nerdy guys who you just give a book or website about something and that is how I figure it out
