Isn't Kane due to promote a movie soon or am I way off the mark? Would make sense why they would bury him alive to get him off of TV for a while.

He could be hanging up the boots, we've been hearing those rumblings for years.....We didn't act like Steve Austin had to be at every show to promote The Condemned did we?

The fact is that the names Marvel has used in the past are names that have all had some name recognition. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Hulk were names that are known even outside of the readers. Guardians of the Galaxy is barely known within the community, was recently rebooted in comics to attempt to build some knowledge, and has been plagued with shit marketing ploys that have so far failed to increase its readership, and just yesterday gave away 2 issues for Free Comic Book Day trying again to increase awareness, the WWE Universe is a great platform to also try and increase awareness.

Marvel is unsure of this decision, and is throwing shit at every wall they can find in an attempt to make this movie as big as they possibly can. They even have Troma hyping it to their fans.
...you all are vastly underrating the importance of Rocket/Groot as well as Drax. Drax is one of the most notorious and dominant characters in Marvel comic history... Batista got a money role there. It's not big like the MAIN Avengers or X-Men characters, but they've always been a key role. And when fans hear/realize Thanos has something to do with this film, they're going to flood theaters the following days/weeks.

To be fair the condemned was the biggest flop in wwe films history though, thus a change in how they promote

That has not been confirmed yet. It could very easily just be to indicate who Gamora(Zoe Saldana) is the daughter of, but by that logic do you mean to say that Thane will also be in the movie, because he is her brother? Or that the Shi'ar, The Starjammers, The Inhumans, and other unlikely groups that played a role in the overly expansive, quite confusing cosmic storylines that a small percentage of readers cream about, but vastly sucked without the skills of Chris Clairmont are going to be introduced?

And last I read, Drax was a male, and that means he is basically second rate character in Marvel. He could literally be blinked out of existence by at least a dozen of Marvel's Alpha Females.

Because wrestling matches are the only ways to promote a movie to wrestling fans?

I could see that logic, that or bitter fans not wanting anyone finding success outside of the wrestling industry......Crab Bucket.

That's what they're supposed to do. It's not a panic move. It's a move to raise awareness, period. Hell, they dropped the Ultimate Avengers and basically told the whole live-action cinematic story in one animated film, just to raise awareness.

That has not been confirmed yet. Actually, it HAS been confirmed that Thanos will play a role in GOTG. Starlin, the artist of the cosmic universe, said almost a whole year ago that he was told Thanos would be in GOTG as well as Avengers 2 in order to help build the role for Phase 3. Producer James Gunn also made it specifically clear that Thanos WILL be in the movie, at the very least in motion capture, and said specifically "we're tied directly to Avengers 3." Anyone who knows anything about the comics knows that The Collector uses the Guardians to help find the Infinity Gems to put them all together... at first it was by Apocalypse's use of the mind gem, but later revealed HE was being controlled by Thanos. And anyone who knows anything about Drax knows that he is designed specifically to sense Thanos, and his only mission is to put an end to Thanos, who in every battle they've had, was unable to defeat Drax in combat. Thanos > the Alpha Females of Marvel... so if he can't end Drax, it should be quite apparent that it is no easy task.

Hell Drax even took on Hulk in combat and they fought until The Living Tribunal interjected.

Like I said, even if opening night doesn't do amazing numbers, once a few people let those who don't know that Thanos is involved in the film, people will show up. Also, they JUST announced a few weeks ago that they've cast Thanos... so the motion capture CAN be touched up and dialogue added in. The importance of this film on Phase 3 of The Avengers cinematic universe is not going to go unnoticed for long, if at all.

Really? Because I loved the movie. I thought it had the kind of intensity and violence I'd expect from a company that promoted wrestling. It was a damn fine action/thriller movie.

EDIT: Also where do you get your facts from to call it the biggest flop in WWE films history?

Wasn't it just one of the biggest flops in film history? Forget WWE films, that movie made like a penny and a half.

The film didn't even break even budget wise at theaters. THEY lost double digit millions. It took years of rentals to break even.http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/movies/the-condemned-2007

The Marine, Call, See No evil, and Dead Man Down all turned a profit. 12 rounds made its money in rentals but didn't flop. Austin bombed in the big time.

Could be an appearance like in Avengers. Anything more is speculation. Because lets face it, Incredible Hulk tied directly into Avengers, but had nothing to do with it outside of Nick Fury making a very brief cameo. Could even go as far back as Blade, they cast Michael Morbius, but he never even appeared in the movie.

Secondly, all that raw power is nice, how well does it fair against alpha level telepaths like Jean or Emma, or reality warping Scarlet Witch. Drax is also no longer on the level with Hulk ever since Annihilation, maybe he will be if he becomes the bearer of the Power Gem, but at this point he probably couldn't harm She-Hulk.
