Every great manager makes bad signings now and then Wenger and Fergie are no different. Can we move on from this Arsenal/Utd talk please?

Sounds like a cracking game last night, Reading were two nil up at one stage. Almost another shock and six goals overall great drama. I am predicting that Torres will have a much better season now than he is the main man and settled at Chelsea. If Lampard can keep his opening week form up and the new signings bed in they could be title contenders.

2-1 up at one point ;)

The Cech howler for Reading's 2nd goal was unlike him. They should've gone 3-1 up had one of their defenders connected on an Ian Harte free-kick. Federichi definitely should've saved Gary Cahill's shot, which gave Chelsea the equalizer. Torres' goal was offside too. So Chelsea got a bit lucky IMO.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona is on Sky Sports tonight, the first leg on the Spanish Super Cup.

I don't really keep a tab on Italian football but QPR signing Julio Cesar seems like a coup for them.

They haven't signed him yet, but if they did, he'd be a pretty good signing for them.

Wigan have accepted a 5th offer from Chelsea for Victor Moses. I don't see how they need him, as they already have too many midfielders but whatever.

So Rogers is confident that Sahin will be a Liverpool in the morning presumably on a loan deal. From what I can understand throughout this whole saga, Alonso and Jose supposedly wanted him to go to Liverpool on loan but he himself wanted to go Arsenal. Now it appears that Arsenal were going for an outright deal or a loan deal with a buy out option and Sahin supposedly just wanted a loan deal.

The saga continues.

I've read that Arsenal weren't prepared to pay as much of his wages as we are. We're getting him for the season with an option to buy him for £14m at the end of the season.

Very happy with this signing (if it goes through). Player with a lot of potential, and if it doesn't work out, we just don't sign him at the end of the year.

Glad Arsenal missed out on him. Wouldn't be shocked if Wenger now goes out and buys M'Vila from Rennes

The guy is supposedly on £115k a week, insane amount of money for warming the bench not surprised Arsene would be put off by that if its the truth.

Yeah Chelsea's weakness might be at the back, Terry is past his best and tends to get injuried a lot, Cahill is still bedding in and they are still suspect in the full back area plus Cech is not what he once was.

I think Sunderland are getting some good recruits in. They brought in Steven Fletcher today who will score them goals and they've also recruited Adam Johnson who I think is a top signing. With Johnson on the left and Seb Larsson on the right, Fletcher should be getting plenty of top quality service.

Yeah, Johnson is a good signing for them as it Fletcher. It leaves City free now to try and get Scott Sinclair in from Swansea to replace Adam Johnson.

The first match of the weekend in the PL should be interesting as West Ham travel to Swansea with both looking to build on opening day wins. It expecting a tight game and a draw but possibly a score draw. Still think both will struggle this season.

Agree on the Sunderland buys and I think they will just get better this season under O'Neill.

Keith, you support Villa, right? Think it might be a long season for you if so. Almost as long as ours is going to be.

We have a number of problems Dod no doubt. Our defence is completely different with James Colins sold, Richard Dunne injuried and a number of new players who will take time to bed in. Add to this we have never replaced the likes of Barry, Milner and Young and that we relie too much on Bent up front. However I do have faith that things will improve over time. Lambert is a bright young manager who is good at working with limited resources and getting the best out of talent. The good news is that after Newcastle away next week (which may well lead to a third straight defeat) we do have a good run of fixtures and it isn't until November we play one of top teams, so the key to our season maybe picking up a good number of points during that period. I think we should be alright it will just take a bit of time. Well done to Everton they were excellent again yesterday and maybe a outside bet for the top four.
