I just watched the Villasenor/Rua title fight from last summer and I forgot just how frickin awesome it was!! That ppv also had Shamrock/Baroni which was also a fight of the year in any promotion. Forgot Kimbo, please, oh please, do whatever it takes to make Frank Shamrock your go to guy.

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson, the YouTube sensation who turned his backyard brawling into a career in mixed martial arts, appears to have an opponent for the next time he steps into the cage: Ken Shamrock, the MMA legend who competed in UFC 1 but hasn't won a fight in more than four years.

Sherdog is reporting that Shamrock vs. Kimbo will be the main event for EliteXC's October 4 show on CBS.

From EliteXC's perspective, Shamrock is the perfect opponent for Kimbo because he's a recognizable name within the sport of MMA, but Kimbo has a legitimate chance of beating him. Shamrock at his best would have destroyed Kimbo, but at age 44 he's long past his prime. Shamrock has lost five straight fights, all by first-round knockout.

Kimbo vs. Shamrock isn't a marquee mixed martial arts fight, but it is a fight that will get a reasonable amount of attention and perhaps get good enough ratings to keep EliteXC afloat through the year. For that reason, Shamrock is the right choice.

Their probably paying shamrock to throw the fight.

Holy crap. Talk about big fight atmosphere. That is actually a good choice of an opponent for Kimbo. If Kimbo can take Shamrock, you know what kind of name that will give him? Ridiculous. They keep feeding guys to Kimbo, but each opponent has a flaw, it's like they come from the land of misphit toys. Good to see Shamrock though, that will be great and then have Frank Shamrock announce? That will be tight.

The big thing I have been reading all over the place is that this will do horrible in ratings. How can ratings suck with Shamrock, the most famous fighter next to Couture, main eventing against one of the hottest names in MMA today? It's bound to be awesome.

Only reason I'm watching is cause I'm a fan of Ken Shamrock from his wrestling days...I'm pulling for him also...and who knows if I like it I might start watching more MMA stuff and join you all in here.
