Becky Lynch: I'll have the best heel turn!
Dean Ambrose: Hold my beer.
Johnny Gargano: No, hold MY beer!
Okay...so...
Lynch turning "heel" made sense from a long term narrative point of view...
especially considering her past history with Charlotte & her being booked
terribly for so long since she first dropped the title to Bliss.
Not only that but Becky "turning" has only enhanced her career and given
it focus.
Ambrose turning...well...I personally don't really care & it only happened
when it did because of Roman being sidelined long term. It was coming
later...and would have made more sense at that later point.
Not only that...BUT...we've already seen an Ambrose vs. Rollins feud with
the roles reversed...AND the Shield triple threat World title match happened
not that long ago at Battleground 2016.
And Gargano...a guy who has had at least 4 NXT title shots and has failed
every time...well...it just feels kind of forced. Like the writers realized that
Johnny Wrestling was completely burned out as a face & was a complete
failure...and they just flipped a switch.
It would have made perfect storytelling sense for it to have been Lars Sullivan...
but now...it just feels...wrong...or at least it does to me.
I'm sure whatever TakeOver matches they book will be fantastic...they always
are...but this Gargano heel turn...it just feels wrong to me.
Gargano should have won the NXT title at least once...even if he only had a
short reign...it still would have been better than nothing...because what exactly
can he achieve now? The North American title maybe?
I mean its just like with Nakamura & Joe on the main roster...they can only fail
so many times until they don't appear to be a proper threat anymore.
I understand to put wrestlers over you need performers for them to defeat...
but I think the WWE drags out their feuds for too long and the wrestlers who
don't go over suffer because of it.
In my opinion...a
focused title feud should last no longer 3 pay per view matches...
and whatever happened to the one off, month long feud with a one & done title match?
Kind of like what they did with Styles & Rusev earlier this year.
The WWE have so much talent yet seem very lazy & boring with how they book it...
at least on the main roster.
NXT is mostly "Less Is More" & it works for them.
