One of the most annoying things in sports is when athletes say something but don't put their name on it. If you're scared to put your name on whatever you say then don't say it.

The great Albert Haynesworth experiment is over for the New England Patriots.

The team on Tuesday released Haynesworth, a league source told ESPNBoston.com, just a few days after the underperforming defensive lineman clearly struggled in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. After getting overpowered by

Giants guard David Diehl on a 10-yard touchdown run by Brandon Jacobs with 9:10 remaining in the quarter, Haynesworth did not see the field the rest of the game.

"We had a lot of defensive linemen active, so they played in different rotations," said Belichick. "Vince [Wilfork] is a guy, obviously, that we don't want off the field. But the rest of those guys, they can't all play. One guy plays for a while, then somebody else plays, and they rotate. ... We had Kyle [Love], Vince, Albert, Gerard [Warren], and Ron [Brace] -- it's kinda five guys for two spots there."

Haynesworth also reportedly had words with Patriots assistant coach Pepper Johnson on the sideline after the Jacobs touchdown. Belichick would not comment on the report.

Coach Bill Belichick said Haynesworth's absence after the play was not due to injury, indicating it was "rotation related."

NEW YORK -- That Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots matchup that looked so attractive in the preseason is losing its prime-time slot.

With Indianapolis winless and Peyton Manning-less, the NFL already has decided to move the Dec. 4 game off "Sunday Night Football" under its flexible scheduling policy. The league will decide on a replacement by Nov. 22. The NFL said Tuesday that the game at New England would now be at 1 p.m. on CBS.

The critical NFC East matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants on Nov. 20 will remain on Sunday night on NBC. The Titans-Falcons game that day will move from 1 p.m. to 4:15 on CBS.

The NFL can use flexible scheduling starting in Week 10 to ensure meaningful matchups in high-profile time slots.

Luckily for the Patriots they didn't give up a lot when they traded for him i think it was a 5th or 6th round draft pick.

Yeah so no real loss for the Pats. Now just curious to see if Ocho could suffer the same fate. Went from being one of the best WR's in the game to a guy who only gets like 10 plays a game.

Yeah Ocho has like 10 catches for 130 yards on the season but whenever Brady and Belichek are asked about him they say he's improving so idk. If he lasts the season on their team i can see them trying to trade him away during the draft or something to a team who could use the depth, i belive he signed a 2 year deal with them when they re-did his contract after the trade so that's an option if they want to go that direction.

And Thursday night football this week! Raiders or Chargers?

Haynesworth hasn't even been bad. In fact, I would say he's even been GOOD, when he's on the field. The Pats just never gave him a chance... The only reason this is happening is because the Pats D hasn't adjusted well as a whole to the 4-3 defense. They must be planning on converting back to 3-4.

Bucs awarded DL Haynesworth off waivers

Albert Haynesworth wasn't unemployed for long.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have claimed the defensive lineman, who was released by the New England Patriots on Tuesday.

General manager Mark Dominik confirmed the move Wednesday, saying the Bucs more than likely would not have been interested in the 350-pound Haynesworth if the team had not lost Gerald McCoy for the season this week because of a torn right biceps.

On Tuesday, Tampa Bay also signed defensive tackle John ...

Being waived actually knocks some sense into a lot of players. I'm willing to bet that while he won't play at the level he did with Tennessee, he'll play above the level he did in New England.

This is win-win for TB. Very low risk, and potentially good reward.

Yeah the good out weighs the bad in this situation. And if needed the Bucs can just cut him if he doesn't do anything for them.
