Re: 2012 NFL Discussion Thread

I'll give the Bengals credit for hanging on against a strong defensive performance by the Steelers and generally appearing to want to win the game more. The loss (as with last week's) for the Steelers can be blamed solely on Big Ben, who seems to be playing wounded. Well either that or he's completely regressed, which I doubt. Anyhow, the Bengals are hot when it counts, and a good showing against Baltimore to close out the season would go a long way (particularly considering they may be playing them again the following week) to help them out.

The only issue I have with them right now is that Dalton holds on to the ball way too long at times and occasionally makes bad passing decisions. Their defense is really why they're in the position they are, which is important for sure. However, when it comes to crunch time, Dalton has to be a little better than he is right now, so perhaps this is his big chance to prove himself.

My biggest issue with the Bengals is their QB looks like Skut Farcus

i agree with you Fuji. Dalton needs to scramble more and work on control. I think he gets to excited.

Re: 2012 NFL Discussion Thread

I'm amazed on how Seattle is playing at this moment. Third game in row that they scored over 40 pts and being the first team since 1950 to score 50+ points in consecutive games a week ago. Beating the 49ers were no joke last night. This team could be a huge threat in the playoffs at this rate.

Sherman won his appeal so he won't be missing any playoff games. Seattle is getting hot at the right time watch out.

How would you know that?

Russell Wilson's having a terrific rookie season despite a few bad games, which shouldn't be a surprise to everyone. He's put up 28 total touchdowns (three rushing) and has thrown 10 picks, plus 2,868 passing yards. Not too bad for the rookie.

Then you got Marshawn Lynch. Lynch's been very consistent by rushing 100+ yards and scoring touchdowns since Week 7. He's second in rushing yards with 1,490 and scored 12 touchdowns total (one receiving). They didn't call him "Beast Mode" for nothing.

Finally, you got the Seahawks' defense, which has been spectacular imo. They are among the most consistent defenses in the NFL in terms of allowing the fewest points allowed, catching an interception in all, but three games and six defensive touchdowns to add. Their game against the 49ers showed how good their defense was by giving up 13 points to a good team.

We'll see how Seattle does in the playoffs.

P.S. The statistics don't lie.

Re: 2012 NFL Discussion Thread

Seattle has been red hot and they are getting back Browner for the playoffs? Nasty. If my Giants don't make it (which it would take a miracle for them to) then I am backing the Seahawks all the way.

Re: 2012 NFL Discussion Thread

The Hawks are definitely a threat. They just pulled out a dominating win against one of the NFC's two best teams. Outside ofvthe fact that its tough for a rookie QB to carry a team through the playoffs typically, they're playing championship ball.

I wish I could say the same for my Houston Texans. Sure, they've had a decent season but at this point they seem to have run out of fuel to an extent. Their defeat of the Colts wasn't all that convincing, it was really a mediocre overall effort and performance on their part, and then they go and lose by 17 to the Vikes.. not to mention the huge blowouts they suffered to Green Bay and New England... for a team that is 12-3 they just seem vulnerable. Maybe a bye in the first round of the playoffs will reignite them a little, but I expect them to lose the conference championship to New England or Denver, sadly.

Re: 2012 NFL Discussion Thread

Looks like Sean Payton's staying with the Saints.

Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints have agreed to a five-year contract extension, according to a league source.

The terms of the extension are undisclosed, but may be similar to the deal that was earlier disapproved by the league, according to a league source.

The Saints were given written permission by the NFL to negotiate a contract extension with the suspended Payton in November.

The extension agreed upon by Payton and the Saints was rejected by the league because it contained a clause allowing Payton to leave if general manager Mickey Loomis was suspended or departed the organization.

Re: 2012 NFL Discussion Thread

Terelle Pryor is starting for the Raiders Sunday against the Chargers. I hope he does well. He grew up right around here and did very well. He is a Vick, Tebow type player who rely's on his legs to get things done.

I really hate the new coach for Oakland. I think it was stupid to get rid of the coach who had them winning but oh well. Not my team to decide these things and he has screwed up Run DMC
