Re: 2012 NFL Discussion Thread
Just to clarify a couple of things, Roethlisberger didn't look bad at all yesterday, it was the rest of the team that forgot to show up. The Steelers have long been known to play "down" to the teams they're facing, and yesterday was no exception. Obviously that doesn't excuse anything that happened, but attempting to lay the blame on the QB is kind of wrong since it wasn't his fault. The same can be said of Charlie Batch against the Browns when every RB decided to play "fumble the ball".
As for the Bengals, they should have beaten Dallas but they let it slip away, which sucks for them since it could have cost them their playoff hopes. Their final three games of the season are at Philly (dangerous since they're playing the spoiler role and trying anything they can to win), at Pittsburgh (Steelers always play better against divisional opponents) and home to Baltimore (see Pittsburgh). That's a tough final three games for any team, let alone one that has a core of players who haven't proven themselves yet and a coach who is more than capable of screwing up both his gameplan and his clock management.
Oh, and if I had a nickel for every time I heard some Bengals fan whine about Palmer being "intentionally" hurt by the Steelers in 2005 I'd own Apple.
