Agreed about McFadden, he's still playing well he's just not nearly as explosive as he used to be.

It could be the zone blocking scheme. Not sure if they've changed that or not, but I read before the season that McFadden doesn't do well with zone blocking. It looks to me like it's more than that. He's just not the same RB as was before the injury.

He's still a quality receiver out of the backfield so there is that. He's still a dual threat. There's also the fact that the Raiders passing game hasn't been that good. Moore could change all that if he and Palmer really start clicking. Defenses won't be able to stack the line to stop DMC at that point.

Do they even have the proper linemen for the zone blocking scheme? You usually need lighter o-linemen for that.

That I don't know. Don't follow the Raiders close enough to know about their offensive line. But you're right, it's all about technique and quickness with zone blocking. Like most schemes, almost all of them work, but you have to have the right personnel.

And oh yeah the Talib trade. Good for both parties. The Bucs get a 4th round lottery ticket and cut bait on a player they weren't going to re-sign. Good that the Bucs got something for him. The Pats get a CB that we all know is talented but is a head case. Good trade. I don't know why more of these don't go go down. 3rd and 4th rounders are valuable, but they're not GOLD like the 1st and 2nd rounders are. I guess it's more the salary cap that keeps big trades from going down.

Players available for trade usually seem to be-

A) On a big contract, with the current team looking to shed the load.
B) Getting towards the big 30.
C) Have plateaued in ability, or are declining.

Combine those 3 factors, and it's not too surprising that certain teams don't like giving up future draft picks.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Thursday they have traded cornerback Aqib Talib and a 2013 seventh-round draft pick, originally from the Chicago Bears, to the New England Patriots in exchange for their fourth-round pick in 2013.

So yeah it's the salary cap then. That's the biggest obstacle. Otherwise someone would've taken Steven Jackson. It's a gamble that he can still produce at a high level just like a 3rd or 4th rounder is a gamble. However, those 3rd and 4th rounder gambles are much less expensive.
