Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

If you can get a hold of Super Bowl games easily, I suggest Super Bowl XXXIV Titans/Rams from 2000. None of those players still play in the league, but it's my favorite Super Bowl ever.

So the Saints hire Rob Ryan as Defensive Coordinator.

Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

Well at least the fat bastard won't have to move far.

Very weird hire for the Saints. I would have expected a team much more desperate than New Orleans to take a chance on someone who really hasn't proven much. Doesn't seem like Ryan is a guy that can take their defense to the next level and the Saints need a ton of draft/offseason acquisitions to convert to a 3-4. Their defense is going to be pretty bad in 2013. Maybe Ryan can turn it around if they give him the time, but again, I just don't see anything he's done that would make the Saints believe he's a good long-term investment.

You can't get anymore desperate for help on defense than them. Their defense was beyond bad so anything little thing helps. Thing is it won't be hard for him to be looked as a success since they really can't get any worse as a defense.

Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

True, but I meant a team more desperate, not just a defense. I'm sure the Saints will be back in the playoff hunt next season now that the Payton distraction is over. Surprised the Saints didn't swing for Lovie. Quite honestly, I'm surprised no one has.

Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

I think the move wasn't just a playoff move but a superbowl push move. If you can get some kind of decent defense to go with that offense then they can definitely contend.

Lovie not having some kind of a job is dumbfounding. At this rate half expecting him to coach college or something.

Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

I read somewhere that if Lovie couldn't get a head coaching job in the league, he was gonna take the year off instead of taking a coordinator job... Surely someone would've hired him if we was taking offers... I was actually enthused when the Eagles interviewed him for their head coaching job, really wanted a defensive minded coach at the helm but instead I get the complete opposite...What do you guys think the Chiefs will do with the first pick?? Andy Reid loves quarterbacks and offensive linemen so my gut says they'll either go Luke Joeckel or Geno Smith (and yes Andy Reid is dumb enough to draft Smith #1 overall)

Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

I think it depends on if the Chiefs land a QB in free agency. There really aren't any franchise QB's in the draft and if you're not getting a LT, I could see Reid trading down. If Geno is who he wants, he can get him midway through the first round, possibly later. If the Eagles or Cardinals don't get him, I could see Dallas grabbing him.

Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

Anquan Boldin told NBC's Erik Kuselias that he intends to retire if the Ravens release him this offseason.

"They will be his last team," passes along Kuselias. The Baltimore Sun reported late this week that the cap-strapped Ravens would prefer to sign Boldin to a contract extension, reducing his salary cap number. Currently, Boldin is owed a non-guaranteed salary of $6 million. Set to commit upwards of $20 million to Joe Flacco, GM Ozzie Newsome will have to get creative to keep Boldin.
Well wow he is serious about loving it in Baltimore and wanting to stay. Never thought retirement would be an option. This makes me think he'll resign for less money afterall.

I'm halfway through this Broncos/Ravens game and man, this stuff is awesome.

EDIT: How could I live without this?

I believe Boldin too and I don't see anything wrong with it. He just won the Super Bowl ffs so I can totally understand him not wanting to go from that to some crappy team like the Dolphins or Jets who are in need of a good receiver.

Watched a couple games and it might sound like I'm one of those little bitchy guys who follow the team that wins the whole thing but man...Ravens really are something. The first TD of the Super Bowl game, BEAUTY.

Re: NFL 2012/13 Postseason Thread

lol yeah they weren't always that good offensively. This past season was by-far the best their franchise has ever looked on offense. They're traditionally a full-fledged defensive team.
