Packers Sam Shields gets a Super Bowl ring tattoo on his neck <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->
By Chris Chase

Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields(notes) recently went out and got a tattoo. Of an oversized Super Bowl ring. On his neck.
How are you spending your summer?

The NFL lockout has prevented Packers players from receiving their Super Bowl rings in a public ceremony or making the customary trip to the White House. Getting tatted up with the former is one way to solve that problem.

My biggest concern for Shields is that he becomes a free agent after the 2012 season. When he walks into a negotiating meeting at Lambeau Field with a four-inch Packers G popping from his shirt collar, reason dictates that it would kill his leverage a bit.

That tat is gonna look fairly stupid once he has to sign with a different team one day.

Haha kind of like Ladainian Tomlinson's tattoos of the Charger's and Jet's logos. He's still young enough to play for another team or two in his career, is he gonna get a tat everytime he changes teams?

And i don't know much about tattoos, but wouldnt this tattoo hurt like hell?

Idk what his threshold for pain is and I myself can take pain but I don't know if I could stay still enough to get a tattoo like that.

Rings? Personally, I love how the NFL playoff system works but especially the last few years it's led to half ass teams who stumble into the playoffs and end up in the Super Bowl. They can wait for their rings.

That whole article made it seem teams like the Packers are above the lockout. Good to point out though.

After seeing sportscenter talk about free agents for when the lockout finally ends figured I'd post this. http://nfltraderumors.co/2011-nfl-free-agents/

Had no idea Nnamdi Asomugha was a free agent. By far is gonna be the most sought after FA which I really really hope Baltimore can snag him. They desperately need a good CB let alone one of the best in the league.

I hope that Nnamdi Asomugha re-signs with Oakland, they need him if they want to make a run for the playoffs.

Having a good corner will never get you to the playoffs. They'll just end wasting too much money on him. Get somebody that can guard average receivers well enough and work on other positions since they have the money to do so now. Well they will have the money losing his contract.

Well it's good to have somebody who plays the postion as well as he does, but yeah there are more important postions on a team but i have no clue who the Raiders are going to try and pick up in free agency
