Maybe I just missed it...

Was wondering how you determined the results of your games.

- The match between the Patriots and the Jets will be Robert Saleh’s first AFC East Division game of his career. For Jets’ fans, this has been one of their rival games that they have been forced to endure loss after loss in recent encounters with the last victory for the Jets coming in 2015, in what was a 20-26 victory that was achieved in Overtime.

- The last victory in regular time was in 2010, which saw the Jets win 28-21 at Foxborough, during Mark Sanchez’s era as QB under the leadership of Rex Ryan. New York Fans are hoping that Robert Saleh will be able to win this vital division rivalry game.

- The Jets are expected to continue to rely on their strong running game this week, although fans will surely be hoping that Zach Wilson’s confidence will grow and that the rookie QB will continue to throw the ball and earn a few more passing touchdowns to his scorecard.

- Offensive Coordinator Zach Parker also shared his thoughts earlier in the week and made it clear that the Jets had been working on the importance of moving the ball as much as possible and that the fans shouldn’t be surprised if the Jets decided to run the ball on 4th down, when they were out of field goal range rather than punting for field position.

- Zach Wilson would really impress in the first quarter and throw two short distance passing touchdown with one being caught by Keelan Cole [6yd] and the other Jamison Crowder [1yd] that would see the Jets take a strong 0-14 lead and really give them a solid foundation going into the rest of the game.

- The second quarter would be tough on Wilson though, and for all the good he had done earlier in the game would all be taken away from him by his own mistakes. Deep in Jets territory Wilson would be tackled hard and fumble the ball, with the Patriots turning over the ball and consequent plays would lead to a Pats touchdown.

- Wilson’s second mistake would come from the QB following the offensive coordinators strategy of making plays on the 4th down whilst in the red zone, but rather than score a TD the ball would be intercepted, and this would lead to the Pats scoring a second touchdown and the score at half-time being tied at 14-14.

- The second half would see the Jets start focusing on running the ball down the field, with Michael Carter & Todd Gurley II both crossing the white line two add two more TDS to the scoreboard and the third quarter would end with the Pats clawing on score of their own back taking the match to 21-28, with just one quarter left to go and the match still very much up in the air in regards to whom was walking away with the W.

- Michael Carter would score another rushing TD, only for the Patriots to respond quickly with their own taking the score to 28-35 in favor of the Jets. In a previous sequence of plays Todd Gurley II would leave the field injured and would not return to the field with it being diagnosed he had a torn labrum and would be out for at least five weeks which would be seen as a major blow for the Jets so early on into the season.

- The Jets would noticeably start to run down the clock with it becoming very apparent they were looking to work their way down the field to go for an FG. The Jets would make a big call at 4th & inches but manage to push through the Patriots D-Line to get a 1st down at the 2-minute warning. Over the next few phases, the Jets would continue to run the ball, and this would force the Pats to use all of their timeouts, really putting the odds in the Jets’ favor.

- Rather than going for QB Kneels though, the Jets would actually disrespect their divisional rivals by continuing to run the ball despite the risks involved and would end the drive with Perine scoring a rushing TD in the last play of the game, that would see the Jets win the game 28-42.

- The win would be celebrated massively by Jets fans, and historians would quote that this would be the first time that the Jets had scored 40+ against the Patriots since September 26, 1993.

- With Todd Gurley II being confirmed out for the next five weeks and Tevin Coleman already on the injury list, Robert Saleh would confirm that rookie halfback Michael Carter would be thrown in the deep end and expected to take on the role of the team's main Running Back for the next weeks at least.

mc.jpg

- Saleh would show full confidence in Carter and make the point that the rookie had scored two rushing touchdowns last week and was more than capable of running the ball for the Jets. Saleh would continue to make the point that Carter was more than capable of fitting perfectly into the scheme and with good fortune he could be a breakout star in the league this season.

WFOuzeO.jpg

- August Kross would make a statement and revealed her personal joy that the Jets had claimed such an impressive win over the Patriots and was extremely pleased at the work that Head Coach Saleh had done so far and that perhaps the targets she had set would be accomplished sooner rather than later.

"The New York Jets are looking better than ever, and I don't think since the Rex Ryan Era that this franchise has looked this good. Bring on the Broncos!" - August Kross

- Rumor of an announcement would have circulated for much of Monday morning of a big trade involving the New York Jets. It was suggested that a player would be leaving the franchise to make space on the roster for a player that the Jets were looking to pick up from the free agency pool. It would be confirmed prior to an official announcement that the trade deal agreement had been made with the Detroit Lions.

rU98L2sAu_IpJE65V1sg-M5ob3yWRIWOFcngLhth0rVZVT-teLH2WMz5o074MPTnPIEAMRI2f1j-qPPX7ZFx2ZEUzf9J2trCbOZmUwGze-5cG2jbvpVxeR0uZOUu6SYcLyb2n4DLyvs_jZCFDmfg6Ovkl3IMH2iVPqTQTRUXm1p2_12DlTI4nKuu9OFRCg

- Despite Crowder's open interview just over a fortnight ago, it would emerge that one of the Jets first choice Wide Receivers along with a 3rd Round pick had been traded for the Lions' first round pick in next year's draft. Robert Saleh would explain during the announcement that a first-round draft pick had a lot of value to it, and it could be used to either acquire a top college pick or even sign a more experience player instead if a space opened up on the depth chart.

fitzgerald-iso-sideline.jpg

- It would be revealed that the seventeen-season veteran Larry Fitzgerald who had spent his entire career with the Arizona Cardinals after being drafted in 2004 from Pittsburgh had been brought into the team to offer some experience and guidance to the team and that the x11 Pro Bowler would offer an explosive option out on the field. Fitzgerald would share his thought on joining the Jets.
"I was with Arizona for such a long time, but I still think I have a few seasons left in me. Coach Saleh brought me in to do a job and I already know coming into this that I am going to be compared to Jamison and I am technically his replacement. It is my job to make Zach's (Wilson) job as easier as possible and open up the passing lanes for him." - Larry Fitzgerald

- Larry Fitzgerald is expected to start on the field as the Jets travel to Empower Field at Mile High. The veteran Wide Receiver takes over from Jamison Crowder who was traded to the Detroit Lions earlier in the week. Many people around the league are looking on with excitement at seeing if Fitzgerald can still compete with the very best.

- Von Miller would make it known in the buildup that he wasn’t worried about the Jets’ recent run of form, and he was very much looking forward to making his way through New York’s O-Line and cutting a rookie QB in half. Miller would make the point that the Jets had always been a small outfit and that they wouldn’t achieve anything this season.

- Michael Carter and Zach Wilson are the Jets two biggest threats offensively and the pair will look to strike while the iron is hot and claim a third win in a row this season.

- Head Coach Robert Saleh would continue to encourage not just his players, but also fans of the franchise to keep on believing in the team and that this team was capable of becoming a serious threat this year and that any of the team's shortcoming in the past were exactly that - in the past and that the only thing that mattered was here and now.

Last season's fourth round draft pick James Morgan has been cut from the New York Jets roster, with being understood that HC Saleh did not believe that Morgan was a competent or capable backup QB for the franchise. Instead, Joe Flacco re-signs with the Jets offering further experience and guidance for rookie QB Zach Wilson. This addition is also likely to put more pressure on Wilson, if Saleh feels that Zach under performs with the threat of replacement likely not having been as real when Morgan was the 2nd choice on the bench,

- The Jets would start the game strong with an early FG followed by a solid rushing touchdown from Ty Johnson with the option halfback clearly surprising the Broncos Defence when he sliced through their D-Line like a knife through hot butter with the first quarter ending with the Jets leading 10-0 on the road.

- The second quarter would see Denver really step up in their attack, but also prevent the Jets from entering the red zone and would allow New York to convert two field goals - with one of these kicks taking place after Wilson had been sacked for a big loss of yardage.

- Denver would manage to put some of their own points on the board in the form of a touchdown and a field goal that would see the scores taken to 16-10. Towards the end of the half, the Jets would kick an amazing punt with the Jets spotting the ball at the Broncos 1 yard line controlling field position and preventing the Broncos from getting another score during the half.

- The game would continue to be a score for score game with both teams putting points on the board, with the third quarter seeing the Jets having just a seven-point advantage at 27-20. The highlight from the quarter would come about when Michael Carter would score another rushing TD, to cap a massive amount of yardage gained by Carter during the game.

- Wilson would have a tough phase with the rookie QB being nailed hard with two sacks in two plays, with a certain Von Miller looking particularly pleased with himself. After a loss of field position, the Broncos would capitalize, tying up the game at 27-27 with less than four minutes on the clock and the Jets looking very vulnerable and in danger of suffering their first loss of the season.

- In a last-ditch effort Ty Johnson would be given the ball in hand and manage to cross the whitewash to score a last-minute rushing touchdown to edge the Jets ahead and Denver would have no time left to get point of their own that would see New York take the victory and the Jets maintain their strong start to season with a record of 3-0.

- Zach Wilson would start the game poorly and throw two interceptions in a row over two phases. Despite this bad start to the game, the Titans were unable to capitalize, and the game would remain 0-0 at the end of the quarter.

- Michael Carter would score the Jets first points of the game with the outfit going 0-7 ahead following a rushing TD. The Jets would then claim an extra two points following a safety to take a 0-9 which had come about after a perfect Punt Kick by Mann that had seen the ball leave the field at the 1-yard line.

- Wilson would continue his poor run of form by throwing a third interception in the game, with the Titans finally putting their first points on the board by converting a FG. The Jets would continue to push down the field of play and take a risk on the halfway line by throwing on 4th & 5 and manage to make a first down with less than two minutes to go. Unable to reach the red zone, Gostkowski would be called onto the field where he would kick a FG taking it to 3-12 in what would end a tight first half between both teams.

- The Titans would claw by a TD early in the second half to bring the score even closer to 10-12, but the Jets would extend their lead once again with an FG to go to 10-15. Wilson and Fitzgerald were showing chemistry as a passing unit, and as Jet’s QB1 developed fans were hopeful that his passing game would become a lot more predominant in the Jets’ offensive strategy.

- The Jets would miss an arguable easy field goal, with it in many ways being seen as a critical miss in the game. However, the Jets would get another shot and convert an FG from a much further distance to take a 10-18 lead with just three minutes left in the game.

- The Titans would score an impressive receiving touchdown but would attempt and fail the 2-point conversion leading to them trailing by two points. The Titans would keep up the pressure though and end up sacking Wilson and claiming a safety of their own taking the game to 18-18 via a safety. Commentary would comment that if the Titans had simply gone for a 1pt conversion they would have won the game 19-18 when the clock ran down. Instead, though, the game was sent to overtime.

- In a tight overtime period it would be Stephen Gostkowski who would pull through for the Jets and kick an FG that would give New York the win and maintain their perfect start to the season in what was seen as a devastating loss for the Tennessee Titans having come so close to breaking the Jets.

After just four games and with a record of 4-0 there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Michael Carter is the most valuable member of the Jets team. The halfback is officially the best rusher in the league having traveled 571 yards over 107 attempts for an average yardage of 5.3 and four touchdowns. Carter’s closest competition is fellow rookie Najee Harris off the Steelers who has scored two more scores with six touchdowns but has only made 293 yards rushing with the ball. When asked what Michael Carter’s recent form meant for first choice Todd Gurley, Head Coach Robert Saleh after he returned from injury.
“Todd has got a big task ahead of him if he wants to reclaim his spot as first choice, and I have been happily surprised, but also pleased at how well Michael fits into this team and has really managed to become an integral part of this team as we focus on rushing the ball as often as possible.” - Robert Saleh

After f0ur games, the Jets join the Kansas City Chief as the only other team in the NFL that have yet to lose a game this season. Below is the current standings for AFC East:

- The game between the Jets and the Falcons in the first half would be a slow affair with the Jets converting one FG whilst Atlanta would convert two of their own. The Jets thought they could have had a narrow lead, but Gostkowski seemed to be having an off day and would fail to kick two field goals. New York would almost be punished when Wilson threw an interception, but the Jets D-Fence would really step up to the plate and prevent the Falcons from scoring on the play with the scores 3-6 at the end of the half.

- Atlanta would be the first team to score a touchdown in the game, scoring early in the third quarter to extend their lead to 3-13. The Jets would continue to struggle and would have to settle for another field goal, with there be no doubt in anyone’s mind that this was the weakest the Jets had looked since the season had begun.

- Michael Carter would finally break the line and score a rushing touchdown for the Jets, leveling the scores up at 13-13.

- The fourth quarter would prove to be the toughest quarter of the Jets entire season as they would concede 24 points. This would come in the form of a FG, a passing TD - but worst of all Zach Wilson would throw a further three interceptions pass with the Falcons really punishing the Jets by scoring two Pick Sixes with Moreeau and Jones scoring the Defensive Touchdowns. Carter would manage to score a second TD for the Jets, but it simply wouldn’t be enough as the Falcons would take the game 20-37 bringing an end to the Jets unbeaten run.

- Following the first loss of the season, Head Coach Robert Saleh would make the point one loss wasn't the worst news in the world, but how the Jets came back from the loss would be vital for him and the rest of the team moving forward. Saleh would make the point that he was very realistic about his first season at the helms and that there would be many more losses this year, but he was working towards a five-year plan and would continue to do everything in his power to meet the three objectives given to him by August Kross.

- Zach Wilson would clarify during a Q & A session that this season was much tougher than he had expected and would admit that the step up from college ball was much larger than he had expected, but that every time he threw a bad ball or one of his passes was intercepted, he couldn't help being annoyed with himself. Wilson would continue to make the point that he would strive to be the very best version of himself and hopeful being a keystone in the Jets becoming one of the biggest names in the league under Coach Saleh's leadership and that with a Bye next week, the team would have extra time to work towards their second game of the year against the Patriots.

- Prior to the game getting underway, it would be announced that 2nd string QB Joe Flacco would start the game for the Jets and that Wilson would start the game on the bench. OC Zach Parker would inform the press that Wilson would be watching from the bench and being taking notes and that this move in order for Wilson to learn whilst on the job and that once the lesson was over Wilson might perhaps come onto the field at some point in the game.

- The first half of the game would see the Jets control the game and show the same form they had shown against the Patriots during game week two. Michael Carter would continue to impress by scoring two rushing touchdowns. Joe Flacco would also impress and score his first point of his second stint with a short pass to Larry Fitzgerald. All the Pats were able to muster were two field goals that would see the half end with the Jets leading 21-6 at Foxborough.

- The Patriots would be the only team to put points on the board in the third quarter, but the Jets would prevent them from penetrating the red zone, but they would manage to convert three FGS of their own to bring the score back to 21-15.

- The Patriots would end up taking the lead following an interception thrown by Flacco that would result in a Pick Six. Shortly after this Wilson would be brought onto the field to play out the remainder of the contest. Another major change would see Michael Carter walk off the field, unable to return to the field in what was a suspected dislocated elbow.

- The Jets would push back though and first take the lead following a FG, before Johnson would score a game winning rushing touchdown to give the Jets a 31-22 victory over their division rivals.
