1987-the first Survivor Series ran the same day as Starrcade. Vince even threatened to remove WWF pay-per-view events from cable companies if they offered Starrcade.
1988-Royal Ruble ran on USA Network opposite NWA Bunkhouse Stampede PPV
1988-The first Clash of Champions ran on TBS opposite WrestleMania IV
No, this was at Greensboro Coliseum. Superdome was 1989 for Flair vs Steamboat Best 2 of 3 Falls.Oh Jesus wasn't that the Clash that only sold like 10% of the SuperDome pretty sure that was their call too, Mania was scheduled later back then but not that late if I had to guess

I didn't realize that until you mentioned it, but yes that was the same day as WrestleMania V.Oh yeah, that one was also the day of a Mania too though wasn't it? Why did they keep trying that.
That's what would happen if AEW actually tried to go head to head with Mania btw, not just running ROH the day before
don't forget the NXT night change to Wednesday - though I think there's still some denial there on WWE's behalf
I have always felt with their tv insiders they may have had a heads up but perhaps it was indeed a happy accident.Well it wasn't a night change was my main point to it. I think it was a happy accident they got the opening on USA around the same time (bc Fox took SmackDown). But NXT was going to be Wednesday against AEW no matter what, it was just streaming on the network on a Wednesday since 2012. I never thought it getting the deal had anything to do with AEW, but how they booked it once it got on USA did. It wasn't all just WWE network to Cable changes
