Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread
Check Rondo's numbers and Garnett's. Kobe defended his matchup better. He played better on the road in Boston where Gasol's averages went down in every category.
For the playoffs as a whole Kobe's numbers were better. His numbers in every closeout game besides that game 7 were better. People remember the tip vs OKC, but Pau no showed 47 minutes of that game. Pau no showed the close out versus Phoenix where he had like 9 points. In fact in the OCK series, Phoenix series, and Boston series the only other Laker besides Kobe to have any of their averages increase in any category away from Staples was Fisher.
So what the fuck are you talking about because no one with common sense would base a whole series, let alone title win off of one game to say they won because of Pau?
In fact Artest was the best player on the floor in all of game 7 on both teams, so why not give him MVP?
I mean in what world does someone post playoff averages of 29pts, 6rebs, 6asts, a steal, shoot 46% from the field, shoot 38% from three, 84% from the line, and average 40 minutes on one leg yet not be the most valuable player on a team or be thought to have fallen off?
They won the title because of Gasol. Gasol dominated that series. Not Kobe. Kobe wasn't clutch at all, he did all he could to lose game 7. Here's what PSYCH will read from this paragraph:
KOBE
CLUTCH
GAME 7
