Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Part One

5th March
1280px-Las_Vegas_Motor_Speedway_2024.svg.png

134 Laps (Stage 1–2 30: laps; Stage 3: 74 laps)

As we head into the third race of the 2021 Truck Series season, the excitement is building for what promises to be a thrilling showdown at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 5, 2021. Known for its fast, high-banked turns and wide racing surface, this intermediate track is always a favorite among the drivers. With a mix of seasoned veterans and hungry rookies, the field is set for intense battles as the drivers look to make their mark in the standings.

The mix of shorter stages and a long final run will challenge drivers and teams to balance aggressive racing with strategic pit stops. Tire wear, fuel management, and staying out of trouble will be key factors, especially with the longer final stage, where drivers will need to be in prime position for the final push.

With Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s intermediate track layout, this race is going to be all about drafting, handling, and staying ahead of the pack. Fans can expect tight racing throughout the night, with plenty of opportunities for drivers to make bold moves on the track.

After the previous two races, Brandon Blaze will be looking to maintain his perfect record after claiming the pole in both races so far, and Logan Slayer will be out to prove his victory at Homestead wasn’t a fluke. With drivers like Ben Rhodes, Zane Smith, and Ty Majeski consistently showing their speed, no one can afford to take their foot off the gas.

As we head to the lights of the Las Vegas strip, there are sure to be fireworks under the lights on the track. The atmosphere will be electric, and we can expect close racing, thrilling moments, and perhaps some surprises along the way. Pit strategy, tire wear, and track position will all play major roles in this race, and with only two races under the drivers' belts, we’re in for a season-defining race.

* * * *

The analysts have been impressed with Brandon Blaze's qualifying performances, especially with his ability to secure pole position in back-to-back races. Here's a breakdown of what they've had to say

Consistency and Confidence:
Analysts attribute Blaze's great qualifying runs to his consistent driving and confidence behind the wheel. His ability to extract the most from his truck on new tires has been highlighted, and that confidence translates into strong qualifying results.

Team Chemistry and Setup:
Another factor in Blaze's qualifying success is the work of his Niece Motorsports team. The crew has clearly gelled with the driver, and there's been a noticeable improvement in the truck setup, particularly on intermediate tracks like Las Vegas. Analysts point to their ability to fine-tune the truck for optimal speed and balance in qualifying trim, which has been crucial in getting the most out of each lap.

Experience Under Pressure:
Blaze's background in Truck Series has given him valuable experience, which helps him stay calm and focused during high-pressure qualifying situations. The analysts emphasize that Blaze knows how to adapt to various conditions and respond to changes in track temperatures or wind direction, which is vital when aiming for a top qualifying spot.

Strategic Approach:
Analysts also believe Blaze's approach to qualifying is strategic. He has managed to avoid getting caught up in unnecessary risks while still pushing the truck to its limit during the critical qualifying sessions. They mention that Blaze and his team have put in extra time in the simulator and during practice to ensure they hit the right marks during qualifying, often giving them the edge over the competition.

Physical and Mental Preparation:
Finally, Blaze’s physical and mental preparation has been a key factor. Analysts suggest that Blaze's fitness and mental resilience allow him to maintain sharp focus and high levels of endurance during the stressful qualifying laps.

In short, Blaze's ability to secure great qualifying positions comes down to a combination of his confidence, team support, adaptability, strategic approach, and mental and physical preparation. These factors have allowed him to establish himself as a serious contender and a driver to watch going into future races.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Part Two

Stage 1 Recap - (Laps 1-30)

- The race begins with Brandon Blaze on pole, leading the pack into the first few corners. He gets a strong jump off the start, holding off Grant Enfinger in second, but Tommy Bedlam and Stewart Friesen are making moves early on, trying to capitalize on any gaps.
= Dubba Best and Kevin Magnussen start in mid-field, but they're both already starting to show some aggressive moves, looking for opportunities to pass cars and move up the order. Germain Loochhausen in the #21 truck has a solid start and is running near the top 15.

Lap 6
- Magnussen begins working his way through traffic, passing a few trucks on the outside lane. He’s making the most of the draft and pushing forward with confidence. Meanwhile, Dubba Best is slicing through the field as well, using the inside line to pick off a couple of positions.
Loochhausen, however, is being a little more cautious, keeping pace in the middle of the field, while Zane Smith and Arthur D'Tea trade positions just outside the top 10.

Lap 15
- The race starts to settle into a rhythm as the front pack of Blaze, Enfinger, Friesen, and Bedlam holds their positions. Magnussen is now in the top 10 after a great move to get by Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar.

- Best is still on the move and has cracked the top 15, passing Tyler Ankrum and Tanner Gray. Loochhausen continues to hold his ground, staying around 18th place, but he's slowly starting to work his way forward.

Lap 20
- Dubba Best and Magnussen continue their charge, now moving up into the top 10 with Best making a slick pass on John Hunter Nemechek and Matt Crafton. Magnussen follows suit, taking advantage of a small mistake from Tyler Ankrum, moving past him and into 9th.

- Loochhausen finally gains a few more spots, using a well-timed move on Christian Eckes and Ben Rhodes to move up into 15th.
Meanwhile, the leaders are still Blaze, Enfinger, and Friesen, who are all content to race in a three-truck formation, trying to break away from the pack.

Lap 23
- As the laps tick down, Dubba Best and Kevin Magnussen continue to be among the most impressive drivers, running in 8th and 9th respectively. Best, in particular, is showing impressive pace, looking much more comfortable and confident than in previous races.
Loochhausen, in the meantime, has closed in on Brett Moffitt and Arthur D'Tea, and is now running in 13th. He seems to be finding his rhythm as the race progresses.

- At the front, Blaze continues to lead, but Friesen and Enfinger are right there, waiting for any opportunity to take the lead.

Lap 28
- The final laps of Stage 1 start to heat up as Dubba Best has moved into 7th after passing Ty Majeski and Johnny Sauter in quick succession.

- Magnussen is now holding steady in 8th, but he’s not far off from challenging Best for 7th. Loochhausen has finally cracked the top 10, passing Tyler Ankrum and Zane Smith in the last few laps to land in 9th.
Lap 30
- At the front, Blaze, Friesen, and Enfinger remain locked in their positions, with Blaze taking the stage win after an impressive run.

Stage 2 Recap - (Laps 31-60)

Lap 31
- As the green flag waves for Stage Two, Blaze maintains the lead, but Friesen quickly applies pressure from the outside lane. Enfinger stays tucked in behind them in third, while Dubba Best and Magnussen continue to run strong, now in 5th and 6th.

- Further back, Loochhausen has gained a few more positions and is up to 8th, alongside Matt Crafton, who’s trying to make a push towards the front. The field remains tight, with drivers jockeying for position, but no major moves yet as everyone plays it safe early in the second stage.

Lap 33
- Friesen moves into second, passing Blaze on the outside after a well-executed crossover move. Enfinger stays in third, but Tommy Bedlam has made a charge into 4th after passing Best and Magnussen on the inside line.

- Loochhausen continues his climb up the field, now in 7th, having passed Tyler Ankrum and John Hunter Nemechek. Blaze and Friesen are starting to break away a bit at the front, but Enfinger and Bedlam are closing in on them.

Lap 38
- The top five remain very competitive, with Blaze leading Friesen, Enfinger, Bedlam, and Best. Loochhausen, still in 7th, is hanging tough, keeping Matt Crafton and Zane Smith behind him.

Lap 41
- As the lap count continues, Enfinger makes a bold move to the inside of Friesen to challenge for second place, but Friesen fights back hard on the outside and holds onto the position. The battle for second has allowed Blaze to extend his lead slightly.

Lap 45
- Bedlam makes a big move to get by Enfinger for third, utilizing the draft from Friesen to push forward. Magnussen, now in 6th, is staying just behind Best, trying to find an opening to advance.

Lap 48
- In the middle of the pack, Loochhausen has dropped a couple of spots, now running in 9th after Tyler Ankrum and Matt Crafton passed him on the outside. Blaze remains in the lead as Friesen and Bedlam continue to battle for second.

Lap 50
- The field starts to spread out a bit more as Blaze and Friesen continue to exchange the lead, but Bedlam is hanging on in third and looking for any opportunity to pass. Magnussen has dropped to 7th after getting shuffled back a few positions during a mid-pack battle.
Best, who started the stage strong, is now holding in 6th, trying to find a way to break into the top five. Loochhausen is in 10th, but his progress has stalled as he finds himself in a battle with Ben Rhodes and Tyler Ankrum for 9th.

Lap 54
- Friesen takes the lead briefly after a great push from Bedlam, but Blaze fights back on the inside to regain the top spot. Enfinger, still in fourth, has a good view of the front two and is waiting for a mistake to make a move. Best continues to run solidly in the top 10, currently in 5th, while Magnussen drops out of the top 10 after a mistake on the outside line, slipping back to 12th.

Lap 56
- As we approach the final laps of Stage Two, Blaze continues to lead with Friesen and Bedlam close behind. Enfinger has dropped off slightly, now running in 5th, but still well within striking distance.

- Loochhausen, showing signs of frustration, has dropped to 13th after a series of small mistakes, but he’s still trying to recover as he battles with Johnny Sauter and Christian Eckes.

- Blaze looks in control, holding a comfortable lead as Friesen and Bedlam battle hard for second.

Lap 60
- Blaze claims Stage Two win with a flawless run through the final laps. Friesen holds off Bedlam to finish second, while Enfinger stays consistent in 4th. Tommy Bedlam will be happy with a third-place finish in the stage, showing great promise for the remainder of the race.
Loochhausen finishes Stage Two in 14th after struggling for position during the closing laps.

Stage 3 Recap - (Laps 61-134)

Lap 61
- The green flag waves to start Stage Three, and Blaze takes the lead early, showing he has the speed to stay at the front. Friesen and Enfinger follow closely behind, while Bedlam and Magnussen battle in the middle of the pack. Blaze seems to be in control, with Friesen trying to keep up but not able to make much headway in the early laps.

Lap 80
- Blaze continues to lead as Enfinger and Friesen settle into a comfortable second and third, but the intensity in the middle of the pack is heating up. Bedlam, pushing hard to make up ground, begins to make moves on the inside line, looking to move up into the top five. However, things start to get tight as Bedlam tries to move around slower traffic.

Lap 92
- Tension builds as Blaze remains at the front, but Bedlam, trying to navigate through a pack of lap cars, gets into a risky situation. Bedlam is racing alongside Tanner Gray when Gray moves up the track unexpectedly. Bedlam clips Gray’s rear quarter panel, causing Bedlam to spin. He then slides sideways and gets airborne after hitting the outside wall hard. The truck flips over several times and lands upside down in a scary crash.

Lap 93
- The red flag is immediately displayed as emergency crews rush to the scene. Bedlam is still in the car, and the situation is tense. The crowd is silent as safety teams work to stabilize the truck. Bedlam is eventually removed from the vehicle and placed on a stretcher. The cameras show the medical staff carefully attending to him as he’s transported to the infield care center for further evaluation. The race is paused while the cleanup takes place.

- The red flag continues while the wreckage of Bedlam’s truck is removed from the track. The field is parked on pit road as the safety teams clear the scene and ensure everything is safe to continue. Fans are on edge as they wait for updates on Bedlam's condition.

Lap 96
- After a lengthy delay, the race resumes, but the atmosphere is somber as Bedlam is taken to the hospital for further tests. The field gets back to racing with Blaze still leading. Friesen is now in second, and Enfinger in third. As the race continues, drivers like D'Tea and Magnussen begin to push towards the front, looking to make the most of the closing laps.

Lap 110
- Blaze holds onto his lead, but Friesen is pressuring him hard for the top spot. Enfinger hangs in third, while Zane Smith and Arthur D'Tea are putting on a great show for fourth and fifth.

Lap 130
- The final laps of Stage Three are full of drama. Blaze continues to defend his position, but Friesen is getting aggressive in the closing laps. D'Tea has dropped back slightly as Smith has found another gear and passed him for fourth. Enfinger is right there as well, keeping the pressure on Friesen.

Lap 132
- As the race enters the final few laps of the stage, Blaze continues to lead. Despite the earlier turmoil and the injury to Bedlam, the race pushes on with all drivers giving their best efforts. Blaze holds firm and crosses the finish line to win Stage Three.

* * * *

Brandon Blaze was absolutely ecstatic as he crossed the finish line for his first win of the 2021 season, and his celebration was nothing short of over the top. As soon as he clinched the victory, Blaze’s emotions took over, and he let loose with a series of wild celebratory moves.

He pumped his fists wildly in the air as he cruised around the track, waving to fans with a huge grin plastered across his face. Blaze then threw his helmet out the window, much to the excitement of his crew, who were all on their feet cheering. Once he parked the truck in victory lane, Blaze jumped out, immediately climbed up on top of the truck, and threw his hands in the air like he had just won the biggest race of his life – and for him, it certainly felt that way.

The fans were in full support, chanting his name as he soaked in the moment. Blaze tossed his gloves into the crowd and gave multiple fist pumps to show his gratitude for the massive support he had. As he made his way to the press area, he couldn’t help but smile and let out a loud, "This is what it's all about! First win of the season, and we're just getting started!"

His celebration wasn’t just about the win—it was a reflection of the hard work and dedication that had gotten him here. Blaze also made sure to share the moment with his team and crew, thanking them for their hard work and the incredible truck they had built. “This one’s for the whole team! We’ve been working hard, and now we can celebrate together. There’s no stopping us now!”

Fans on social media were also quick to jump on the celebration, with many posting videos and pictures of Blaze’s wild victory lap and overall exuberant demeanor. It was a win that would be remembered for both the victory and the electric atmosphere that Blaze created on his big day.

In his post-race interview, Brandon Blaze was all smiles, clearly on cloud nine after his dramatic first win of the season.

Reporter: "Brandon, an amazing win today! Take us through that final stage and the emotions you were feeling as you crossed the finish line."

Brandon Blaze: "Man, what a race! It feels incredible. I’m just so pumped for this team and all the hard work we’ve put in. We’ve been fighting for this win, and to finally get it—there’s just no better feeling. The truck was fast all day, and when I saw the chance to pull ahead, I knew I had to take it. The guys did an amazing job with the setup, and I just had to finish it off."

Reporter: "You seemed to have a lot of momentum in that final stage. How did you manage to hold it together when things got tight?"

Brandon Blaze: "You know, there were a few moments when the pressure was on, but I trusted my team and just focused on what I needed to do. You can’t let the chaos throw you off, and I’m really proud of how we kept it cool. It wasn’t easy, especially with everything going on with Bedlam and the red flag, but I stayed focused, and it worked out in the end. And I’m just so thankful for this truck and everyone who helped get us here."

Reporter: "You’ve now got your first win of the season under your belt. What does this mean moving forward?"

Brandon Blaze: "This is huge, not just for me, but for this whole team. We’ve been working our butts off, and it’s great to see that pay off. We’ve got more races ahead, and now that we have this win, we’ve got the confidence we need to keep pushing. We’re not done yet, and we’re going to keep going after this championship!"

Reporter: "We have to ask, your celebration was absolutely wild. What was going through your mind during that?"

Brandon Blaze: (laughs) "I was just so excited, I couldn’t help myself! I’ve been waiting for a moment like this for a long time. First win of the season, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with the fans and my team. You’ve got to live in the moment, right?"

Reporter: "You certainly did! Congratulations again, Brandon, on an outstanding performance. We’ll see you next time."

Brandon Blaze: "Thanks so much! Can’t wait for the next race. We’re just getting started!"

Blaze left the interview area still grinning from ear to ear, clearly thrilled to have added his first win of the season to his career highlights.

In a detailed post-race interview, GMS Racing's team boss spoke about Tommy Bedlam's crash, expressing relief but acknowledging the severity of the incident. "Tommy seemed responsive and coherent after the crash," the team boss stated. "We were all worried when we saw him go airborne and land upside down, but the medical team acted quickly and got him out of the car safely."

The team boss continued, "He’s been taken to the hospital for further evaluation, but we're optimistic. It's more precautionary at this point. We're grateful that Tommy is able to talk, and while he’s staying overnight for observation, we believe it’s nothing too serious."

The GMS Racing team also expressed their gratitude towards the track's medical team for their swift action. "We know how dangerous this sport can be, and Tommy's safety is our number one concern. We're just thankful for the support from the medical staff, and we're relieved to hear the initial reports are positive."

In terms of Bedlam’s recovery, the team boss remained confident. "Tommy’s tough. We’re sure he’ll bounce back quickly, and we’re excited to see him back on track when he’s ready."

In his post-race interview, Stewart Friesen was clearly pleased with his second-place finish, but he was also reflective about the season so far and the potential for his team moving forward.

Reporter: "Stewart, another strong finish today with a second-place result. How did you feel about the race overall?"

Stewart Friesen: "It’s a good result, but we’re still chasing that win. Second’s great, don’t get me wrong, but we’re here to win. I think we had a great truck all race long, and it’s a testament to the hard work the team’s been putting in. That final stage was intense, and I think we had a shot at it, but we just didn’t quite have the right push at the end."

Reporter: "Your team’s made some big changes this year, particularly with Halmar Friesen Racing running only one truck for the season. How do you think that’s affected your performance?"

Stewart Friesen: "Honestly, I think it’s been a game-changer. Having one truck has really allowed us to focus all our resources on making this one program as strong as possible. The team is more focused than ever, and I think it’s showing on the track. We’ve got a lot of data to work with, and we’re able to make adjustments quickly without splitting our attention. It’s a big shift from the past couple of years, but I think it’s going to pay off big time. This season feels different already."

Reporter: "Given that focus, do you feel like this season has the potential to be a breakthrough for you and the team?"

Stewart Friesen: "Absolutely. I can feel it. This season has the potential to be a massive improvement for us. We’re building momentum, and we’ve got a great truck under us. It’s all about consistency and making the right decisions. I’m really confident that we’re on the right path, and we’re going to be in the mix every week."

Reporter: "Looking ahead, what are your goals for the rest of the season?"

Stewart Friesen: "We’re definitely aiming for wins. That’s the goal. But also, we’re looking to be consistent. If we can keep putting ourselves in positions to compete for wins week in and week out, we’re going to be in a good spot come playoff time. This team is more ready than ever."

Reporter: "It sounds like the confidence is there. We look forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out. Thanks for your time, Stewart."

Stewart Friesen: "Thanks! I’m excited to see what we can do. It’s going to be a fun season."

Friesen’s determination and optimism were evident, and it’s clear that he believes 2021 could be the year where Halmar Friesen Racing makes a real leap forward.

Team Red Bull's impressive start to the 2021 Truck Series season has generated a lot of buzz, particularly regarding their partnership with Ford for this year. With Grant Enfinger and Zane Smith performing well and the team showing strong results, many are starting to wonder if this relationship could sway them toward considering a switch from Honda to Ford or even fully committing to a Ford engine program in 2022 or beyond.

Reporter: "Team Red Bull has been one of the standout teams this year, and your partnership with Ford has certainly raised some eyebrows. Given the success so far, do you think it might influence your engine supplier decisions for the future, particularly looking at Honda for 2022 and beyond?"

Team Red Bull Spokesperson: "We’re obviously very happy with our relationship with Ford and the results we’ve been able to achieve early this season. They’ve been fantastic partners and we appreciate the support they’ve provided. That said, we have a long-term commitment to Honda, and we believe that Honda is the future of Team Red Bull. We are still very focused on our plans with them, and while this season has been great, it doesn’t change our overall strategy moving forward."

Reporter: "But could this success with Ford make you rethink that future with Honda? Could there be a shift in direction?"

Team Red Bull Spokesperson: "We’re very clear about our direction, and that hasn’t changed. Our relationship with Honda has always been built on innovation, performance, and long-term goals. We're committed to continuing that partnership, and our focus remains on preparing for what lies ahead with them. While we are grateful for the support from Ford this year, our long-term future is with Honda."

Reporter: "So, to clarify, no plans to switch to Ford engines full-time, even after the success this season?"

Team Red Bull Spokesperson: "That’s correct. Our relationship with Honda is a key part of the future we’re building here at Team Red Bull. Ford is helping us in 2021, and we’re grateful for that, but our eyes are firmly set on the future with Honda. We're excited about what we can do together moving forward."

The response from Team Red Bull has been clear: while their partnership with Ford has been beneficial in the short term, their commitment to Honda remains unwavering for the long term. The team's focus on building with Honda suggests that, despite the early success, they are confident in their future with the Japanese manufacturer and its role in Team Red Bull’s continued development.

Sheldon Creed, driving for GMS Racing, has had a frustrating start to his 2021 Truck Series campaign, currently sitting 29th in the standings after three races. Despite high expectations as the defending 2020 Truck Series Champion, Creed has struggled to find consistency, while his GMS teammates, Ty Majeski and Tommy Bedlam, have had mixed results themselves.

Sheldon Creed’s Post-Race Thoughts:
"It’s been a nightmare start, honestly. We just haven't been able to put together a full race, and the results show that. The speed isn’t bad, but things just aren’t clicking. I know the guys at GMS are working hard, and we’ve got a week to figure things out. I’m not gonna lie—it’s frustrating, but we’re not out of this by any means."

While Majeski has been solid in the early rounds and Bedlam has shown flashes of speed (before his terrifying wreck at Las Vegas), Creed has yet to find the form that made him champion last season. With a week off before Round 4, GMS Racing will be looking to reset and get Creed back in contention as the season progresses.

Kevin Magnussen Shines in Rookie Campaign, Currently 7th in Standings
After three races in the 2021 NASCAR Truck Series, Kevin Magnussen has proven to be one of the biggest surprises of the season. The former Formula 1 driver, now piloting the #8 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota, has adapted quickly to stock car racing and currently sits 7th in the overall standings with 121 points.

Rookie Standings Comparison (After 3 Races):
1️⃣ Kevin Magnussen – 121 points (7th overall)
2️⃣ Ty Majeski – 72 points (24th overall)
3️⃣ Dubba Best – 72 points (25th overall)
4️⃣ Germain Loochhausen – 60 points (30th overall)

Magnussen’s strong performances have placed him well ahead of his fellow Truck Series rookies, including Ty Majeski (GMS Racing), Dubba Best (McAnally-Hilgemann), and Germain Loochhausen (Hattori Racing).

Magnussen’s Thoughts on His Strong Start:
"I knew this was going to be a challenge, but I’m really enjoying it. The team has been fantastic, and I feel like I’m getting better every race. There’s still a lot to learn, but being in the top 10 this early in the season is a great sign."

With KBM’s strong truck program and Magnussen’s elite road-racing background, many now wonder if he could contend for playoff contention in his debut NASCAR season.

NASCAR Considering Reducing Truck Series Field Size to 26 for 2022
NASCAR officials are considering a reduction in the NASCAR Truck Series field size from 32 to 26 trucks for the 2022 season. This move would result in six fewer trucks making the grid each week, tightening competition and potentially impacting smaller teams.

However, the cut could be even more significant, as Venturini Motorsports has confirmed plans to introduce two full-time trucks in 2022. With this expansion, the reduction effectively means that up to eight teams may lose their spots on the grid.

Implications of the Field Reduction:
- More competitive field: A smaller grid could enhance race quality and make qualifying more intense.
- Fewer opportunities for part-time or underfunded teams: Small teams may struggle to find sponsorship and secure race entries.
- Increased importance of performance: Teams on the bubble will need to prove their worth or risk being squeezed out.

Smaller Teams & Uncertain Futures
- Jordan Anderson (#3, Jordan Anderson Racing) – A small, independent team that has struggled for consistent funding.

- Austin Wayne Self (#22, AM Racing) – While AM Racing has been in the series for a while, they lack strong results compared to powerhouse teams.

- Timothy Peters (#25, AM Racing) – Another AM Racing driver who may not make the cut if the team downsizes.

Inconsistent Performers
- Raphael Lessard (#25, Rackley W.A.R.) – A team that lacks the resources of the bigger outfits, making them a possible casualty.

- Christian Eckes (#12, Young’s Motorsports) – A talented driver, but Young’s Motorsports has struggled to break into the top-tier.

- Tanner Gray (#02, Young’s Motorsports) – Like Eckes, he’s part of a team that could face cuts if smaller teams are pushed out.

Teams That Might Lose a Truck
- ThorSport Racing – Has four trucks currently (#88, #99, #13, #51). They could be forced to drop to three or two.

- GMS Racing – Currently fields four trucks (#23, #26, #45, #77), but might have to downsize to match NASCAR’s reduced field.

Brandon Blaze made his highly anticipated Xfinity Series debut at Phoenix Raceway, driving the #6 JD Motorsports Chevrolet. Coming off his first Truck Series win at Las Vegas, Blaze had a lot of eyes on him, and he delivered a solid effort in his first race at the next level.

Stage 1 Recap (45 laps)
Blaze started 23rd and took a patient approach, gradually working his way into the top 20. Despite battling an ill-handling car, he held his ground and finished Stage 1 in 17th.

Stage 2 Recap (45 laps)
Adjustments on pit road helped, and Blaze showed more speed, even running just outside the top 15 at one point. However, a long green-flag run saw some more experienced Xfinity drivers pull away, and he ended Stage 2 in 19th.

Final Stage & Race Finish (110 laps)
The final stage tested Blaze’s long-run pace and pit strategy. A late caution gave him a shot to gain spots, but fresh tires made a big difference for others. Ultimately, he finished 18th, a respectable showing in his first Xfinity Series race.

Post-Race Takeaway:
For a debut, Blaze showed potential, staying competitive throughout the race and avoiding trouble. JD Motorsports isn’t a top-tier Xfinity team, so his ability to finish inside the top 20 was a great learning experience. Many are already speculating about when he’ll get another shot in Xfinity—or possibly Cup in 2022.

Tommy Bedlam has posted on social media following his brutal crash;

“Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Taylor and I appreciate them. Scary moment, but I’m OK. Thanks to GMS for building such a safe truck for me. I grew up hearing stories about guys like Ricky Rudd taping his eyes open because they were so swollen but he wanted to race. If I’m able to walk, I’ll be in the Jack Daniels Chevy next weekend.”
