Exactly. It’s why I never get mad at anything done for safety.

Weirdly enough, what might have saved him is something that was added because of him in 2009. They added an extra bar up to the roof area, and it’s actually named after him.

For like NFL, I 'understand' the complaints bc the rule changes do change the game a bit more dignificantly...but I still say player safety is more important bc if everyone stops playing football it's gonna go the way of boxing and die a slow death and we'll forget it was ever the most popular sport in America. But like making cars safer does not change the viewing experience for NASCAR in any significant way so anyone upset with it are just bloodthirsty savages that hate any kind of change.

Newman strikes me as a really tough guy. Going to take a lot more than that to take him down.

That's the best news you can hear from Newman. He walked out with his daughters without any suffer injuries to his body, he's only lucky guy surviving such a horrible crash. Thank God for the safeties of NASCAR.

Qualifying at Fontana has been complete and Clint Bowyer claims the pole over Jimmie Johnson. It's also announced that Martin Truex Jr. has failed three inspections, thus missing the qualifying and has to start from the rear.

I won't complain about Keselowski finishing in the Top 5. He still raced a good race despite starting 15th.

NASCAR's season-opening Busch Clash moving to Daytona road course in 2021

Next year, the annual Busch Clash in the NASCAR Cup Series will kick off the on-track action under the lights Tuesday, Feb. 9.
