Right now I can only think of Pan's Labyrinth and Let the Right One In as two great horror films, post-2000, that may stand the test of time.

Yeah, Pan's is one, it's definitely more other things than a horror movie though.

Let the Right One In I would love to think is going to be remembered in 30 years, but I really don't know.

Personally, I've already forgotten the LOTR movies and have no desire to watch them again.

You're right though, the over-saturation of the genre based films is going to end up hurting them all in this regard. The only reason it didn't fuck up Star Wars was the length of time between the two trilogies. Now with an apparent 897 new Star Wars movies on the horizon, who's going to remember Episode VII after 2020?

Dude there's three new Star Wars movies. Jesus

They've also announced at least two more, which brings that total to five, and since its a Disney property they're going to over-saturate the fuck out of it whether you believe me or not.

Spin offs sabs. I have heard at least single movies for Yoda, Bobba Fetr, Han Solo, Mace Windu, just to name a few would not be surprised if we got one of Grand Mof Tarkin and Ever or Palpatine or Darth Maul.

Hopefully they stop before we get a movie about the drunk Jawas outside the Mos Eisley cantina or Nein Numb, intrepid co-pilot of the Millenium Falcon during the Battle of Endor.

I thought we already had those.

Time bandits was close (I love that movie)

And the Nein Numb movie will be called brown Vagina turned sideways

On topic though. The remake of True Grit could be a classic along with *shuddering* Brokeback Mountain.

I thought about True Grit, but with it being a remake and all I don't know. Most Coen Brothers movies though have the opportunity to stand the test of time though because they're so good at what they do.

They're not horror persay, but I'm willing to bet that the Harry Potter franchise still has viewers 30 years from now.

Another one is The Passion of the Christ.

But that's assuming they don't remake the Harry Potter movies as well though.

I'm not a huge fan but I wouldn't be shocked if Gladiator stood the test of time as well. It seems like pretty much everyone loves that movie except me.
You're not alone there I'm not a fan of Gladiator at all
