If he can put up similar numbers to last year I don't see how it's not a good move, as they got zero production from 3rd base last year. Expect him to be on the DL at least once, but the price was right and it fills a void for them. Plus Gamel is easily going to give them .275 with 25HR and around 80 RBI, so they fill part of the run production void left by Fielder between the 2.

So I've now read a rumor that the reason Braun tested positive was he had herpes and his prescribed medication (legal, within the rules) triggered the positive result. I will lulz so bad if that's true.

Yeah I was a bit harsh but never cared for A-Ram. Big Trade with Reds dealing 4 players including two of their top 4 spects to San Diego for Latos.

Rangers win the bidding rights for Yu Darvish at $51.7M. They have 30 days to reach a deal or he goes back to Japan and the Rangers get the money back.

If he signs with the Rangers i will hate him, so if if he wants my approval he better look elsewhere, watch he goes to the Yankees or Red Sox :p

Beltran, Cards reach agreement for 2 years

ST. LOUIS -- Carlos Beltran and the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a two-year contract pending results of a physical, a move that would fortify the team's lineup following the departure of Albert Pujols.

The team disclosed the agreement Thursday night and said it expects to make a formal announcement shortly after the holidays.

The $26 million deal includes a full no-trade clause, a source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.

The 34-year-old Beltran ...

Excellent signing for the Cardinals. A proven .285 25 90 for half the price of Albert and 1/5 the commitment. I know it's hard to lose the face of a franchise but the Cardinals are a well run team that will not only live through losing Albert but could win another WS.

The Cards look like the favorites to take the central even without Albert, theres a few question though.

1. Can Freese stay healthy all year or most of the year.
2. Will Berkman produce at such an MVP level again.
3. How will Adam Wainwright pitch after his tommy john surgery.

On paper the Cards look GREAT, but the teams that always look great on paper dont exactly win for various reasons.

I agree IYF, on paper, they're better than they were last year. Even if Furcal had a meh year he's better than what they had at SS for most of the season. Healthy Freeze and Holliday, and more depth in the OF. And the starting rotation gets a Cy Young candidate back in Wainwright.

Yeah your team is young, but it shows loads of potential, if you can get some pitching you might be in a good spot to catch the Philles once they get a little older.
