A 56 page PowerPoint document that supposedly reveals sensitive information about Microsoft's next-generation console has been removed from the website it was leaked to.

The document, published on Scribd, claims the Xbox 720 will be released for the 2013 holidays with 4-6x the power of the current Xbox 360, at a price of $299.
It was removed following a complaint from Covington & Burling LLP, an international law firm that lists Microsoft as one of its clients.

The authenticity of the document, apparently written in 2010, remains a matter for dispute.

If genuine, the details within are difficult to verify as the paper appears to have been written in 2010. Games console design is a process that traditionally has one project undergo a multitude of redesigns.

According to the document, the Xbox 720 will feature Blu-ray compatibility, a form of augmented reality glasses, "Kinect version 2" and the recent SmartGlass service.

$300 for the new xbox? I'll buy it, heck I'd buy it if it was more than that. But yeah since this document was apparently written in 2010, so much would have changed since then and I mean it when I say so much.

Anyway, go have a read..

Yeah I highly doubt that the new system would come out that cheap. Surely it'll come out for more than that. But it'll be interesting if anything else winds up getting leaked between now and when the system is officially on the shelf.

I doubt the new console will be more then 299.00 for a 60+ GB system. Especially after when the PS3 first came out at 500 nobody got it. Microsoft is smart and knows how to undersell it's competitors to get more sales.

If it comes out at that cheap of a price, I'll be amazed. Either way, I'll be buying it though.

Looks pretty legitimate, especially when considering Microsoft's style. Don't know if I should buy this or wait for the PS4.

300 dollars is cheap?!? What the hell. That's a lot of money. I got my current Xbox for like 129. And it works just fine. I'd get a TV for 300 before I get a game console. Looks like I'll just wait 6 months or so after it comes out to get it used and cheaper. No gaming thing is worth that much.

Microsoft orders another website to remove "Xbox 720" document

5c8d94de6c.jpg

This weekend, an old but still confidential document from Microsoft was posted on the Scribd website. The presentation showed Microsoft's plans for the future of its Xbox game console business. The document was quickly taken down, thanks to Microsoft's lawyers, but not before it was picked up by pretty much every tech and gaming website there is. Now, yet another website has been ordered to remove a full copy of the two year old presentation.

Eurogamer.net reports that the Czech Republic-based technology site Ihned.cz was also given a formal takedown order by Microsoft's lawyers after it posted the document on the site, although some of its slides are still available for viewing. The (translated) message from the site says, "According to the legal department at Microsoft we're violating the copyright of the publication of the society."

This adds even more credence that this leaked document is in fact the real deal. The document described the next Xbox hardware as the "Xbox 720" with a full DVR set-up, support for Blu-ray, streaming game capabilities and more.

In a statement sent to Eurogamer, Microsoft said, "We are continually thinking about the future of the platform and when we have something to share, we will."

If Microsoft was smart, they would let people keep the document up. That way it's still just speculation. Them going to such lengths to remove it just lends credence to the legitimacy of the document or this could just be a way that Microsoft is using to draw attention to the new xbox or these could be false, explaining why they took it off.

Even with Microsoft talking about the "One Disc, One Console" movement people still want to buy it? I was certain that alone would be suicide.

You do realize this means no borrowing games off your friends, no renting games through Gamefly, and definately no buying of used games.

Also, the 360 did well at $300 for the Arcade version at launch(They did have a $500 version with a 120Gb I believe), not as good as the Wii did at a $300 launch(probably due to a game being included), but still did decent numbers.

$300 is cheap for a console on release, its expensive as hell for a handheld(PSVita) but reasonable for a console.

Dude, $399.99 was the original price for the Xbox 360. When the 250gb Slim cam out that was 300$. If Microsoft stick to their price, I think 300 dollars is pretty cheap for the next Gen of consoles. If it has Bluray, I will get it.
