Steve Austin was sort of a gloating point for me. I was a HUGE fan of his in WCW when he had television title, US title and tag titles with Brian Pillman (one of my favorite teams ever, the Hollywood Blondes). I used to tell everyone how he would eventually be one of the biggest names in wrestling and all my friends thought I was crazy. The caveat, however, was that I predicted the "Stunning" Steve character would be one of the greatest heels of all time, so I really wasn't right but my friends all remember it as if I were.

But yeah, he really only started gaining popularity because of Bret Hart's gradual heel turn. Even Hart's ring entrance at Wrestlemania 13 (another event I had the pleasure of attending) was far louder than Austin's. But even before that Rumble, if you go back and watch the crowd response for Austin on the PPVS and RAW, they're pretty quiet.
I'm not the *biggest* Bret Hart fan, but he really did "make" SCSA with that feud. Maybe one of the best rubs anyone has ever gotten from any wrestler. Austin was a great tweener... his reactions weren't huge because fans weren't sure what to make of him. He would have them eating from his hand though, getting them to boo or cheer easily based on what he said. I had a thread on exactly this based on one of his promos I had seen recently.

edit: Just realized you had posted in that thread lol, I missed that somehow.

People want Ambrose to be some "don't give a shit fight anyone anti-authority" type, but beyond that he has literally nothing in common with SCSA.

It's not the anti authority thing, it's the ring music and the walk. When the engine cranks up and I see Dean strolling down, I know he is gonna beat the shit out of dudes. That's it. He's far closer to Funk & Piper in my estimation. And hey it's only been a couple months since Dean main evented two PPVs. I guess yeah we can already write him off as a lost cause behind Roman and Seth.

I dunno. He hasn't been on a great streak, losing what, 3 of 4 to Wyatt. I actually didn't like the guy at all and then he really began to grow on me after the Shield broke up. I think he'll probably wallow a bit in the midvard for a while, but I'm sure he's going to eventually be a multiple time world champion.

Dean hasn't won a PPV since he was with The Shield against Evolution. Really bad track record IMO.

I didn't say he did. I said he lost 3 of four to Wyatt. Two were on Raw, two were on PPVs.

I know, but since you mentioned his losing streak, you should probably mention his actual losing streak than just Wyatt.

Oh, my bad then, sorry. Good point, lately all Ambrose has seemed like is a promo comic relief too.

To be fair, Punk went on a long PPV losing streak, where from Hell In A Cell 2009 to Capitol Punishment 2011 he didn't win a single PPV match except for on two occasions, yet he was able to turn right around and beat John Cena for the WWE Title the very next month and no one questioned it. All it took was a pipebomb promo and the right storytelling and like that, none of his previous losses mattered. Austin also lost a ton in 1997 and we saw how he eventually ended up. Ziggler jobbed a lot as well and yet still remains over, as we can still see today.

Ambrose is the same - one of those guys talented enough that you can job him out to everyone for weeks or months on end, but you give him the mic, book him in the right feud and let him work his magic and have him go over, and just like that he can rebound and make you forget that he ever lost at all.

Ha, this is the second year going where Daniel Bryan was added to the main event by the audience

It's not official yet, let's not jinx it.
But, can't say I wouldn't love it if it happened, plus it makes WWE look so phenomenally weak by caving in to the fans for the second year in a row after screwing Bryan.

What do people want more: Db in the wm main event (triple threat or 1 on 1) or a match at wm vs dolph?

I'd love it if Lesnar vs Bryan vs Reigns happened, but I also wouldn't have a problem with Reigns vs Lesnar happening, either. That's how it was supposed to go down anyways.
What'd be even more awesome is that if Rollins cashed in on the new champion at Mania. Here's to hoping it happens!

As far as Bryan vs DZ goes, I don't really see it happening for the time being. They've alluded to Ryback & DZ being a tag team, so if that happens officially, then I'd expect them to be in a team for at least 3 months.

However, if Lesnar vs Bryan vs Reigns doesn't happen and they decide to roll with Reigns as the winner at FL, then I'd expect Bryan to go against either Sheamus or Wyatt, although Sheamus is a more probable option.

Bryan is a great ring worker... We have plenty of guys in the WWE who are great ring workers. If they put Bryan in a Triple-Threat match at WM, I'll genuinely have a hate for the WWE even more than I do now. I sincerely hope Lesnar or Reigns win if it is a Triple-Threat match. If it's just Lesnar vs Reigns, then it'll be a damn good match. Only reason I'd want Reigns to win is because Lesnar doesn't apper on Raw every night, and does very few promos... Why would WWE want a champ like that? I must say though, I've been rooting for Reigns.. I like everything about this guy, minus his mic skills. He needs some improving on that. I have a feeling Reigns will have a very similar career to that of Randy Orton in my opinion. Any who, fuck Bryan.

Can't wait to laugh at the outrage if the triple-threat happens.

Fuck you, rooting for WWE to do stupid shit which will lead to laughter at fan reaction is my thing.

Also, spoiler, most will be fine with DB in the main event, any "outrage" would be lost in all of the happiness for the little oompa loompa
