Mark Henry "Retirement" Angle

Phenomenal performance by Mark Henry on RAW tonight. In my view he completely stole the show with his "retirement" segment. The entire thing was mapped out so well from his tweets yesterday, to him wearing a suit to the ring, his moments backstage before the promo and then finally his actual promo with Cena in the ring. There was so much detail in his promo where he was talking about his wife and his son and the crowd played along perfectly chanting "One More Match" and "Sexual Chocolate". He even managed to get emotional and tear up during the promo. He then turned the talk to the WWE title saying that it was the only title that he hadn't held but still he kept the crowd thinking that he was retiring. It was only when he hit Cena with the WSS that it finally clicked for them all. Overall it was brilliantly done by him, perfectly executed.

Who knew that Henry was such a good actor? Do you think that this could actually be his final run? Do you want to see him win the WWE title?

I will be honest, I didn't expect him to retire while Cena was in the ring trying to absorb his spotlight.

It could lead to one last run yes, Vince has always liked him and that does sound like a major segment to lead to something. But really WWE should be looking to someone else to take the title from Cena and try to get over such Ryback or Daniel Bryan.

I am glad that he gets a feud with Cena over the WWE title, his work as ECW champion and his WHC run on Smackdown were fantastic. I think I was one of few that actually watched most of the WWE ECW and saw just how good he was, he was a ratings draw a well . Good to see him rewarded with a shot at the top guy. With the retirement angle I still think that they might make it that his career is on the line against Cena, make it career vs. title and finish on a high. I can't see them using the retirement angle just for that one segment. I am amazed at how great that promo was though.

I was skeptical about the whole thing going into it because I just don't associate Henry in the classes of Edge, HBK and Flair who had on screen retirements however once it got underway he totally had me, first class acting.

The only thing that makes me not okay with the possible one last run is that I want the Cena/Bryan match. But if he ever deserved to hold the WWE title this would be the time. The thing that made the fake retirement great is that he didn't half ass it at all. He pretty much covered everything to make you buy into the fact that he was really hanging it up. Don't know who idea it was to do this angle but it was one of the best things they have done in this day and age where people don't want to fall for stuff because they don't want to be deemed a mark.
