Man of Steel

Surprised a thread on this film hasn't been created yet. So in June 2013 Zack Snyder is releasing Man of Steel, a reboot of the Superman series. I think this is the last straw for Superman. If this movie doesn't sell well I predict we'll be seeing animated TV shows and straight to DVD movies for the next 20 years until another reboot.

I have hope for this movie though. Some people think that the Man of Steel trilogy may be comparable to the Dark Knight trilogy. That may be the case, but we'll see. The movie's release is still a year away. I'm excited for this film though. Here's the first two teasers released.

Russel Crowe is obviously playing Jor-El while Kevin Costner is playing Jonathan Kent

I hadn't bothered cause I thought the trailer looked horrible with the deadliest catch crab fishing bit the fact that you get no sense of classic clark kent and of course as always they try to hide the suit so it leaves little to discussion

Well there's a reason it's called a teaser. Just to tease the fan.

I'm all for teasers but when I see random bits of crab fishing and a kid on a farm it bores me because I've seen that in the previous superman film and smallville so it teases what we all know he grew up on a farm. That's like a hooker showing me her tits and me not being shocked cause she's a hooker.

There has always been so much potential behind a Superman movie, and it really is a shame so few have even been entertaining. Although I know that I will see this movie, I am not expecting anything from it, kinda like how I went into Dragonball Evolution. If its good all the power to it, if its bad I wont feel let down either.

This movie will no doubt be a hit. Nolan is working on it and Snyder is directing. I dare say this movie may even reach the fame of the Batman series. I know I'm hyped for it.

Well, I don't see any hit in this one to be honest. There's not too many things connected with Superman, that you can still make a movie about. I mean, all these Superman's adventures are kinda stereotypes. It's always someone, who takes kryptonite and make Superman weak, but somehow he manages to get out of that bad situation and fights again. I mean, if this movie is about something different, than only fighting enemies, just like every other time, it could work. But if there's a man, who will steal kryptonite or something like that, I'm not really going to watch that.

Damn I'll be watching it day 1. It's a shame to see so much negativity surrounding a teaser trailer on this forum when every other forum I've been to has nothing but praise and high hopes.

This movie will rape.

ps. never seen a Superman movie or Smallville so all the origin stuff is necessary to me.

^ so you are saying you have no idea Superman is an alien from the planet Krypton named Kal El, raised on a farm in Kansas by the Kents(Johnathan & Martha), who after high school leaves for the big city and becomes everyones favorite super hero? That could all be explained in a 5 minute scene in the movies, and yet from the looks of it, its going to be half the movie. I believe that is what everyones first impressions have been from the trailers, and that is going to be a hard pill to swallow for anyone who spent the 10 seasons watching Smallville, which was all about his origins.

Also, chances are Lex Luthor will be the villain(I do hope for Metallo, and/or Brainiac though) and that leads me to believe Kryptonite will be a factor. They could pull a Green Lantern here too, and use Doomsday or Darksied right out of the gate, which would allow for a non-kryptonite story, but I would almost bet on 'nite being used.

What Darth said it's supposed to be zod and zod would be weakend by it too though it'd be kickass if superman brought it into the equation to fight him as an earthling.

Personally think they should have just done what norton did with hulk continue it but not quite acknoledge the old ones.

To be fair, they never did a good non-animated Batman right until 1989 and by that time the Superman franchise was already fucked. The first one from '79 wasn't bad, I like it, just isn't like the superhero movies we have nowadays. Superman Returns is the only one that I would even compare to Man of Steel because the rest were so long ago. And even with that, I think this one will be so much better just from the trailers, I like that they're starting completely over.
