Like clockwork, a Tweet, Facebook post and blog message just went up simultaneously -- posted by PlayStation -- mysteriously teasing “the futureâ€￾ of PlayStation. The date being teased? February 20th, 2013. What's being teased? We assume it's the PlayStation 4, but we don't know for sure.

On PlayStation's Facebook and on PlayStation's Twitter, you can find the following:

Seems likely to be some sort of announcement on the PS4...based on the way there hyping it anything else would be a letdown. Honestly though I'm really not that excited about next gen for the first time ever. Both Sony and MS right now have top notch system with great games and really hard to see stuff getting that much better with the jump up in power with the new systems.

An Announcement for an announcement for something more than likely a year away I love it.

It's early and if it is PS4, it would seem there just trying to beat Microsoft to the punch. I thought for sure the earliest we would here about either system would be at E3 so this is a surprise.

They'll just show the system like Nintendo did at E3 11' and then release it a bit later.

An E3 13' announcement puts the probable release date at sometime in 2014. For some reason I'm beginning to doubt that all the next gen systems will be out on the market by Christmas 2013. I wouldn't be shocked if Wii U was the only next gen system in the market by late 2013 even.

Still waiting on that Vita price drop.

I never get excited for new consoles, I wait a year to get the one that isn't riddled with bugs.

Besides, most consoles along with games and accessories cost a shit-ton at launch anyway. I'm really curious as to what the prices of the Sony and Microsoft machines will be, given that they will almost definitely be way more powerful than the Wii U.

If it's below 400-450$, I'll be very, very shocked indeed.

No. 2006 release puts it at 7 years.

Sony has explicitly stated that the console will be on the market for 10 years and that it WILL be supported for those ten years, the only question being how long the duration is. The PS2 ceased production in 2012. And it was released in 2000-2001? I'm guessing the PS3 will be on shelves till 2016-17ish. If not a games console, at least it'll be a handy blu-ray player.

It would be great to hear a big announcement on their new Interface, seems like all the talks about that have cooled off for over a year now.
Would be nice to see them have some announcements for the Vita too, things have been pretty quiet there too.

Since I only got my PS3 a few months ago, and one of those months was getting it repaired from YLOD, I found the interface rather confussing when I was trying to delete games off of my hard drive(being a PS+ subscriber, and willing to try any game means I have had to learn this) as there was 4 places I had to check to get rid of all my Little Big Planet 2 files just to make room for House of the Dead: Overkill.

I also wish the Network had a better set-up. Trying to find the beta for Dust was harder than it needed to be, and the games to DL that can utilize Move have no discription saying that it will work with a 6-Axis(unlike the Wii, which showed you every controller that could be used for a downloaded game).

Streamline the experience really, I miss the days of consoles not having homepages.

I've had my PS3 since launch and I've loved it. I also owned an Xbox 360 and I found the entire PS3 experience to be way better. In fact, I've had my PS3 for two years longer and I've used it more and my Xbox is the system that had a problem. I had a hard drive malfunction.

I will be getting my first ever Sony console when it launches. Fuck Microsoft with their pay to play policy online.

I got PS3 at launch too and I sort of regretted it lol. Not only was it over $100 cheaper the next year but there were also these funny things called "games" available for it then too lol

Ugggh launch titles are just so bad.

Supposedly going to launch at a $400 price point which is $200 cheaper than the PS3 was at launch. Good news if the rumor turns out to be true.
