WCW Saturday Night 5/14/1994: Handicap Match?- Tex Slazenger & Shanghai Pierce v.s Kevin Sullivan.

I have no idea if this was really a handicap match but Sullivan attacked both men before the bell. The referee rings the bell and they brawl for about a minute until the Nasty Boys come into attack Sullivan. So we get some sort of DQ finish but since I have no idea what the match was supposed to be it doesn't matter. The match is nothing. Cactus makes the save for Sullivan and they set up their match with the Nasty Boys for Slamboree.

ROH Best of American Super Jr.’s Tournament - ROH World Title: Austin Aries vs. Homicide (w/Julius Smokes)

This could have been so much better had they just gone out and had the match they'd been building for the past few shows. Instead, they blow off the work Roderick Strong had done on Homicide's back at the previous show but it's like they totally forgot about it. The first half was nothing. The second half was just both guys throwing huge moves at one another. The Burning Hammer thing was a shot at Dan Maff, but it worked within the match as Homicide was all fired up after it. It may have taken a while to get there, but the last seven minutes of this match were great. ***

WCW Saturday Night 5/14/1994: WCW Title Match- Ricky Steamboat v.s Ric Flair.

Incredible action, the sequences were pretty much perfect, you just have yourself a fantastic match here. This was the follow up to their Spring Stampede match where Flair held up the belt. He wanted to beat Steamboat clean to be Champion again and that is pretty much the story of the match going in. Most of this encounter was Flair being one step ahead of Steamboat. Until... Ricky starts working on Flair's legs and we get a long Figure Four which worked well because Flair didn't even work on Steamboat's legs and never went for the Figure Four himself. Steamboat tried keeping the momentum late after it but Flair hits a should block to the gut and finally picks up the win in this great match. The finish kind of seems lackluster when it happens but it kind of works with the way they were working the match.

WWE Smackdown September 2004 - Booker T VS. John Cena Best of Five series match 4 ***

This was passible by the standards of their matches. Booker sets the pace with lively movement, solid waredown holds. He also sells well during the Cena's comeback. A few sloppy moments but all in one of the better matches in a other wise dull series.

ROH Manhattan Mayhem - ROH World Title: Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley

This match was action packed from bell-to-bell, just 20 minutes of krazy action. Aries assault on Shelley’s neck was absolutely awesome, Shelley really conveyed his hatred of Aries and GeNext well, as every move he did felt like it was just as more hard hitting as the last move. It wasn’t flawless by any means, I certainly thought Shelley’s selling of the neck could’ve been better for instance, and they seemed to rush through a number of spots to fit everything they had planned in. ****

WWE Superstars (7/19/12) - Jinder Mahal vs Santino Marella

Haha, this match was so fun to watch. Santino blended comedy and wrestling perfectly here, he hasn't had a match this good in a while.

This match was real good, very enjoyable to watch with some nice back and forth action. Cody looked especially great here.

WWE Superstars (7/19/12) - Derrick Bateman & Johnny Curtis vs The Usos

This was a good enough match, but holy shit I could not concentrate on it at all because I couldn't get over the fact that Curtis and Bateman were teaming. They have literally been feuding for a year now on NXT, and they just show up and team on Superstars like nothing, and the announcers don't even mention it.

WWE Superstars (7/19/12) - Drew McIntyre vs Sin Cara

McIntyre looked so good when he was on offense here, other than when Cara sold horribly. It needed more time for more McIntyre offense and a McIntyre victory. Only two signs I saw in the crowd were pro-McIntyre. One said "Smackdown needs Drew McIntyre" and the other said "Sin ENOUGH Cara."

Beach Blast 06/20/1992 - Iron Man Match: Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude

This match until 2000 was the gold standard for Iron Man matches. And well see if it holds up?......And hold up is does if you had any doupts your an idiot. This was crazy stuff, with excellent storytelling and great wrestling. The only thing i wasn't a fan of was the lengthy sleeper hold which didn't have much heat. But other then that. This is the greates iron man match that is not names Triple H/The Rock or Brock Lesnar/Kurt Angle. ****1/2 Rude's flurry of nearfalls at the end is a WOW.

WCW Saturday Night 7/2/1994: Haito v.s Brian Pillman.

I didn't like this very much and I thought they could mesh well. It was mostly Haito wasting time with an armbar until Pillman decides to comeback and win. Essentially it was squash for a resilient face which are usually the hardest kind of squashes to make believable. It still had enough time and action to warrant it not being a DUD, though.

WCW Saturday Night 7/2/1994: T.A. McCoy v.s Steve Austin.

There really is nothing wrong with this squash but McCoy giving up to standing Figure Four like he did made him look like a pansy. At least he's a jobber. What I don't get is why WCW had two jobbers they'd used use at this time with the names T.C. and T.A. McCoy. They don't even say the are related but they are completely different people. Whatever. The match is a decent squash.

WCW Saturday Night 7/2/1994: Chick Donovan v.s Johnny B. Badd.

This has the same concept of a resilient face squash as Pillman's match but of course you don't have Pillman controlling this, you have Mero. It was just less effective even with a great jobber like Chick in the ring. What is really lame about this match is it was labelled as Badd v.s Rip Rogers. Rogers and Chick Donovan are clearly not the same person. Still this sucked and Badd was out of his element working something like this.

WCW Saturday Night 7/21/1994: Tag Team Title Match- Nasty Boys v.s Kevin Sullivan & Cactus Jack(c).

This was a good brawl while it lasted. The Nasties had some great offense on Jack well I wouldn't call it great if it wasn't the Nasty Boys. I hate how some people hate the Nasty Boys style when having that sloppy, brawling style was there thing. They went into every match like it was a bar fight. They know their style and they know how to work it. Just like Kofi is getting used to his sloppy, high-flying moves. Oh wait that is different because sloppy, high-flying moves don't look effective. When you land hard on your head even if it's a lopsided landing it still looks effective which is something the Nasty Boys do. I wish this would have went longer but Roma & Orndorff got involved causing a half-ass finish. Them getting involved in the tag division at this point was just crap. Yeah, I'm a huge Orndorff fan but this brawling style could have kept dominating the division for awhile longer if WCW actually looked how it developing. Some of the best hardcore wrestling ever happened during this era. Ugh. Well, I'll stop ranting because I'm not talking about the match anymore.

Impact Wrestling: Bound For Glory Series Match- Mr. Anderson v.s A.J. Styles.

Second week in a row that Anderson has had a great showing on Impact. I wasn't going to outright review anything from Impact this week but I enjoyed this much more than the earlier Bound For Glory Series' matches on this show. Anderson calls out Styles for Open Fight Night and we are off. Some tremendous action throughout this. The finish also only really worked for me if you watched the entire match. Tazz mentions Styles flexibility with kicking out and Anderson takes advantage of this late after other pinfall attempts that kind of resembled the same thing. The Superplex near the end of the match was vicious, too. Styles lands on his side and it looked like he broke a couple ribs. If it wasn't for a Styles' hurricarana looking horrible this would have been gem. It's not quite to that level but a match that ended up being a lot better than I had expected. Keep it up with the Bound For Glory series TNA and Anderson keep bringing your A game like this.
