Just wondering, who here is a fan of his, and what are your favourite movies by him?

Mine's got to be Dogma, followed by J&SB Strike Back and Clerks II. I'm not a Clerks fanboy like everybody else.

To be honest, though, I kind of got off him with Cop Out. I mean, Jersey Girl was dreadful, but he redeemed himself with Zack and Miri Make A Porno, and besides there was still a shred of Kevin Smith-ness in it. Cop Out, though...more like Sell Out :p His next better be DAMN good.

I love Kevin Smith. Clerks is one of my favorite movies and Zack and Miri is excellent too.

The only flicks of his I wasn't crazy about were Dogma and Clerks II. I found Dogma to be way too preachy and a little too try-hard with the toilet humor. And I just found Clerks II stupid in every way, I was just really let down by that movie, personally.

I'm big on Clerks but I don't care much for his other stuff. Dogma for one, I just find awful. The jokes alone are just so stupid that I want turn it off in 5 minutes.

LOL Legion, funny how we're polar opposites :) Like I said I love Dogma best, and Clerks II is in my top 3. Really REALLY don't care for Mallrats.

I love Kevin Smith movies, I always thought he got a bum rap on Jersey Girl, I really thought the movie was unfairly treated because of the whole Bennifer thing, it was Carlin's best performance in a movie.

Only one I didn't really like all that much was Mallrats, mainly because of the terrible casting choice of Jeremy London and Shannon Doherty, not really likeable characters.

You mean you liked Cop Out? :p

I liked it better than Green Hornet.

Trracy Morgan is just a funny guy, and that guy from Half Baked stole the movie.

I like all Kevin Smith movies aside from Cop Out. Everybody needs money so more power to him. It's not like he wrote the thing he just directed it. Plus apparently Bruce Willis was terrible on set. I actually liked Jersey Girl and Mallrats. I enjoyed Red State as well. Has anyone else seen it?

Not yet, is it a View Askewniverse?

And Jersey Girl is terrible. Sappy and saccharine and cloying and everything KS used to NOT be.

Lol do you know anything about it? It's a horror movie so of course it's not in the view askew.

I always found Jersey Girl to be good. Typical yes. Formulaic yes but still good for what it was. Better than a Katherine Heigal movie that's for sure. I applaud people who try new things.

I heard so much bad shit about Jersey Girl and Cop Out that I didn't bother see either.

Might watch Jersey Girl for the hell of it, but I'm not really a fan of Tracy Morgan.

LOL did you just use a Katherine Heigl movie as a standard of comparison?! By that standard EVERYTHING is good :p

Yeah I'd never heard of it, but unless it has Jay in it, I'm not interested (jks but I love Jay and Silent Bob).

Chasing Amy is easily his best written movie, was way less over the top than all his other films and didnt lean on dick and weed jokes like his other stuff. Most of his stuff his good though...Jay and Silent Bob is really the only movie of his I didnt like...good for some laughs.the first time view but didnt have the lasting appeal of his other stuff.
