bro i swear and call shit stupid all the time, I get what you are saying but immediately saying ''i sure hope ppl dont get mad and overeact and get emotional'' is pre-invalidating their opinions and reactions because you personally don't think it's a big deal. both opinions are legitimate and have logic behind them.

But ya I don't think you can really expect NJPW fan to not be be kind of insulted by even mentioning nxt tbh. you're talking about the greatest japanese wrestler in modern times as far as accomplishhments.

I often get told to calm down or that I’m taking things the wrong way because I swear a lot too. Guess we just come across that way cuz we are blunt with potty mouths

to talk about old nxt - guys like Owens also came from a time where the indies were a lot different - u got over swearing a bunch and doing insane things that may not go over well on PG tv.

Okada is already wholesome af and I don't think his skillset really needs any tweaking to be successful on american tv

He can't learn English in a short PC span and thats gonna be his biggest hurdle in WWE anyway, that's all on his main roster presentation

yeah it's just no longer a super indie so I just can't see older established talent ever needing it. As Chris said too, this dude has headlined American PPVs and been on US tv a lot already. I don't think there's anything for him to learn at all in NXT. cleaning up some stuff at the PC? sure. But ya I just think debuting him in NXT would be a huge failure. Especially with how much ppl were pushing Jade to be on the main roster because she looked like a star already. cuz the rainmaker looks like a god damned star already and he can actually wrestle
I agree. I’ve always agreed that he doesn’t need to learn from NXT. I don’t personally think anyone “needs” to learn from NXT unless they’re a newer talent. Like someone like Chris Bey might still go to NXT even though he’s been on television, but Moose or Alex Shelley wouldn’t need to. I don’t subscribe to the WWE style concept and maybe Triple H doesn’t either because his NXT was basically a super indie.

Now the other component I think we’re forgetting is Shawn Michaels will probably still request certain talents just for a want to work with this guys standpoint and Hunter might oblige. Don’t think Okada should factor in that, but I do think Owens if he came in today might still go to NXT for this reason.

conspiracy theory : Okada's agent leaked this so AEW ups their offer more and his client gets the max deal

I want to be clear I was never telling Jeff to calm down, but I do think he was being passionate and I do personally classify that as an emotion just for that conversation. Again, no negative connotation implied. Just my opinion.

I think KO is more of an exception, I think most big indie guys would still go to NXT, KO was just one HHH was especially high on so in 2024 he probably would have skipped it. Maybe Rude too, but even guys like Drew when he returned we're actually offered main roster right away but he said he'd go to NXT, I bet that was a rare offer tho

Another point is, Okada apparently had his eyes opened when he found out what some AEW talent were making last year, WWE talent obviously makes as much or more but if money is a big deciding factor in him leaving, he's not gonna take that Dragon Lee deal of a short term bigger NXT contract before signing a main roster money (which was a great deal for Dragon Lee). And if WWE really pays him what he wants and still wants him to go to NXT well then that's the most shocking thing of all to me lmao
Oh shit, the drawbacks of the forbidden door.

I believe it, though. Think about how many stars have left NJPW in the last 18 months. Bushiroad needs to open the pocketbooks.

they have no money sadly

either way though if Okada goes to WWE it's not a blow to AEW. And if he goes to AEW it's not a blow to WWE. Neither company needs him. which is nice for everyone involved tbh

The exact verbage used I heard was Okada is the "most underpaid major star in history" which true or not, I think just means Okada was convinced it was so he's probably going straight for the $

Good because I can get passionate about wrestling.

I could’ve made anything you said here look like nothing if I had not restrained myself from ranting when Switch lost to MJF at Full Gear :bosque
