but seriously, people have to stop comparing Okada and Nakamura.

We all love Nak. But Okada is Roman Reigns level talent and Nak is like, at best a Finn Balor. The only thing they have in common in they are Japanese and were world champion in NJPW. Nakamura was never, ever the face of the company. He wasn't even on Tanahashi's level of importance.

And yeah, I can sort of see that. Which is why I walked it back afterwards. I don’t personally think it’s a big deal. I don’t when everyone except for one superstar has gone through NXT. I don’t personally think, for myself, see the point in being upset when another person have to go through NXT.

Okada's worked plenty US TV too, I don't think you risk him not adapting to it. It's different than Giulia for example who I think going to NXT would be fine even though she's one of the top in-ring talents in the world. Okada at worst they bring him in to tag with Nakamura or something but that's still main roster lmao

Also they've already done Okada teases with Shinsuke which can easily be ignored if he's not signed but could be referenced back if he is, tells me if they're making a play it's for main roster

I mean, this is a possibility. I don’t watch too much of the current NXT. But that was also something I was saying earlier as well. That even if Okada went the system isn’t what it used to be. Okada will never get trapped there for three years like some people did.

yeah it's just no longer a super indie so I just can't see older established talent ever needing it. As Chris said too, this dude has headlined American PPVs and been on US tv a lot already. I don't think there's anything for him to learn at all in NXT. cleaning up some stuff at the PC? sure. But ya I just think debuting him in NXT would be a huge failure. Especially with how much ppl were pushing Jade to be on the main roster because she looked like a star already. cuz the rainmaker looks like a god damned star already and he can actually wrestle

to talk about old nxt - guys like Owens also came from a time where the indies were a lot different - u got over swearing a bunch and doing insane things that may not go over well on PG tv.

Okada is already wholesome af and I don't think his skillset really needs any tweaking to be successful on american tv

Another point is, Okada apparently had his eyes opened when he found out what some AEW talent were making last year, WWE talent obviously makes as much or more but if money is a big deciding factor in him leaving, he's not gonna take that Dragon Lee deal of a short term bigger NXT contract before signing a main roster money (which was a great deal for Dragon Lee). And if WWE really pays him what he wants and still wants him to go to NXT well then that's the most shocking thing of all to me lmao
