Well, a couple of weeks ago, I got my first jury summons and it's coming to the time where I have to call to see if my number comes up. I'm nervous as shit BUT I have no way of getting there and it seems like I was supposed to call anytime before today (5 days beforehand) to get an "excusal". Just noticed on the slip and I guess I didn't read it and now I'm even more nervous. I'm 22. Unemployed. High school dropout and I don't have a license of any kind. I can't be doing this shit right now. I'm gonna call tomorrow morning to see if they can give me an excusal considering this is my first summons. Do any of you think that might be possible? Have any of you had jury duty?

I had jury duty once and had to take two days off from work. I got paid like $15 for each day. didn't get selected for the jury but oh well not a bad experience.

Dude just think. Do it this once and you'll never have to do it again.

This is a really drastic way to get out of it, but I'm pretty sure it'll work. In short, go to the court drunk. I mean, really drunk. They'll think you're way too irresponsible for jury duty and kick you out.

Alternatively you can just tell them you have no means of transportation to get to the court and that will most likely get you out of it.

I've been called before but I was able to get out of it because I happened to be on a business trip during the dates they wanted me for.

Alright, so I just called to see if I can get an excusal, I couldn't. They're not allowed to excuse me because of transportation so I have to call to see if my number comes up. The man said it's a pretty high number so it probably won't get called up but whatevs. If I have to go, at least I'm getting paid.

Well, I can't do it because of being a cop in my civilian job. However, I've been in front of the grand jury dozens of times presenting cases.

It can be an aggravating experience going to court every month as well.
