Jimmy Hart weighs in on rumors of Hulk Hogan returning to WWE - baltimoresun.com

During a one-on-one phone interview with Ring Posts to promote WWE's latest DVD release "History of WWE: 50 Years of Sports Entertainment" (which comes out Nov. 19), former WWE legend and current brand ambassador Jimmy Hart, who is personal friends with Hulk Hogan and has worked with him on several business projects, weighed in on the rumors circulating that Hulk Hogan may once again appear in WWE:

"Hogan knew I was doing this press tour with WWE promoting the DVD," Hart said from Mobile, Ala., on Wednesday. "He told me to say exactly this: Hulk Hogan will be at WrestleMania if he has to buy a ticket and sit at ringside.

"I think he can step into the ring one more time. We have a school in Florida, and he stepped into the ring there and did some stuff, and he looked great. As his friend, I'd be the first one to say, 'Listen Hulk, do us a favor, just go out to the ring to Real American, say OK Brother, rip the shirt, do the pose, sign a bunch of autographs and people will still be just as happy,' ... but he does have a couple of good matches left in him, he really does. I've got my fingers crossed we see something at WrestleMania."

When asked about an opponent for hogan, Hart pointed directly at one name -- the face of WWE.

"At Hogan's Beach a couple months ago we had a Q&A, and I asked the audience, who would everyone like to see Hogan face in WWE, and the answer overwhelmingly was John Cena. I think that would be a great match. John Cena is so classy, this kid is so good. I would like to manage him, but he doesn't need a manager. He reminds me so much of Hulk in a lot of different ways."

In a past interview with the now-defunct Aftermath Radio, Hulk Hogan told the program that he had originally been slated to return to WWE for another match at WrestleMania 25 against John Cena, but his lingering back injury and the apparatus used to try and alleviate his pain not working as hoped prevented him from participating.

I don't know why Jimmy thinks Hogan has 1 or more matches left in him, when everyone knows Hogan's back is fucked after multiple surgeries over the past few years and if he were to wrestle again, he'd probably be crippled.

Not really saying much of note, but that headline is one of the best quotes of the year.

Hogan vs. Cena at Mania would be a terrible, terrible match and everyone would know that going in - and it would still crack a million buys. Hogan is still a bigger name than like, the entire active WWE roster. You could argue that his name did generate much for TNA, but nobody even knows about TNA cause nobody ever talks about it (you ever admit to anyone that you watch TNA? No, cause you tried that a few times and you always had to explain what it was and never turned out with you seeming cool in the end). Ask ten randoms on the street who Hogan is and what TNA is, and everybody knows Hogan but maybe one guy and his dog know about TNA. But Hogan, forget the movies and awful reality tv attempts and TMV stuff, you put Hulk Hogan in the red and yellow on a poster for Wrestlemania and have him against Cena - heck, have him against anyone on the roster, and that's your money match. Even if the dude can't take a bump and can only do five minutes before he gasses, that's your match. Bigger than Cena vs anyone on the roster, bigger than Taker and Lesnar or probably even another Rock match at this point. If Bret Hart could do it a few years ago, Hogan sure could.

These quotes lack Jimmy's trademark "baby", don't know if I should believe this story based on that.

We will hear all the WCW names for this one. Hogan, Nash, Goldberg, and Sting IMO. I, not sure how well any of them can go, but they are easy attractions for buys and at the venue itself.

I mean lets be real here. Who is making mania that are full time regulars
- Cena
- Shield
- Rhodes Brothers
- Bryan
- Punk
- Wyatts
- Big Show
- Kane
- Big E
- Ryback
- Henry
- Del Rio
- Sheamus
- Real Americans

The rest of the card is for Taker, Hogan, Goldberg, Rock (depends on commitments after Hercules debacle), Sting, Trips, HBK, Sting (maybe), Booker (maybe), Brock, Rey, Christian (health like Rey), and Steph (she signed a contract to work matches over the next 3 years).

Not sure why WWE would use a defunct company to base their flagship show around, especially if it's in NOLA, would be Mid-South if anything.

Would be nice for those guys on your list for a HOF ceremony, but no matches.

Mania, usually consists of 3 matches noone gives a shit about, and 3 main events that Taker usually steals the show with. And don't forget the music portion everybody hates by some band that has seen better years when WWE was on top.

Actually NOLA was WCW country. The wolfpac theme was done by No Limit out of NOLA. The last wrestling event held at the superdome was WCW. They were big down there, not all in Louisiana but NO yes. Each company had its own pocket, which is why RVD is received like a King in Baton Rouge, same as Tommy Dreamer who I've seen get standing ovations

Still don't think using a defunct company to base your biggest show of the year around is the best idea. Kind of saying, "our product is so poor at the moment, that we have to rely on nostalgia". Atleast Rocks return had Miz as a viable vehicle, too bad they made him look like such an afterthught after it. His build up was fucking boss heading into Mania, that "Hate Me Now" video the best they've done in along time, but fucked him over because Taker/HHH went too long and killed alot of their time and Rock laying the champ out. /rant.

Well, WWE needs to make it's product look hip, cool, they have built stars that mainevent the big shows. I'm actually starting to think Daniel Bryan and CM Punk should close the show with a unified title match. Pains me to say it, but they need something else to promote for their dirty thirty. Mania 10 ushered in the New Generation, Mania 20 was where it all began....again Ruthles Agression. Thirty should be another game changer.....Fuck it, call it the Indy era, see if it works

I would probably have Nash go in the HOF, I wouldn't put him in a match, just let him be a headliner in a place he was famous. I'm 50/50 on Hulk, mind says no, but the kid in me says i got tickets and to see him walk down to Real American would be special. As for sting, if he would agree I really think you out him in a world title match vs Cena (I'd have him lose but maybe win the rumble to get the shot as 30). Goldberg who knows, he can't be worse than 20, maybe induct him or the steines/DDP but I don't need to see them work either (just interested in hulk and sting )

I do think there will be a triple threat with Orton, Bryan, and Punk. Maybe that plants the seeds of dissent between the two and they get a feud later.

The he rest do the card I have no idea besides Goldust vs Cody unless if they wanted to do the split there. I'd like to see Big E, The Shield, Wyatt family, Show, Kane, RVD, Del Rio, Mysterio, and Christian all be used. But I think I rather see some of them competing for the other titles in legit feuds or even a good old scramble match. Would love a TLC at mania for the tag straps but I doubt it. No interest in the women right now, but wouldn't mind catching some NXT in a preshow battle royale or at Axxess

Streak and Brock are self explanatory.

i get the tag line thing but they broke tradition already just by saying no msg for this which is shocking (I'm happy but shocked)

He just needs to do his vintage Hogan stuff and everybody will be happy. That's all it should be. Fans can go home happy while the fans go home happy as fuck.
