I understand his point about Punk needing a huge star to put him over at Mania which would be nice. Jericho is the ultimate midcarder.

Punk has already got put over by not only a real star but the biggest star in wrestling today in John Cena. Punk is a star now himself as the undisputed number 2 face in the WWE. Facing another big star at mania would be great for Punk but it's not needed to the point of him falling off his spot. To think he'll fall not only out of the main event but "to the bottom" just cause he faces Chris Jericho a guy who they're possibly hyping up is funny.

I'd like to see him back, but after WrestleMania. There needs to be a safeguard to make sure that he doesn't face Punk at Mania, since he needs a real star like Triple H to put him over. If he faces Jericho, he'll just fall back to the bottom again.

Jericho/Punk is a fued just about anyone would be at least interested in, and a dream fued for myself. Punk is not dependant on others to get over, he's proven that all Summer, particularly the promo in Vegas where he basically clutched the wrestling world by the throat and demanded the world's attention.

the thought of Punk./Jericho at 'Mania excites me more than knowledge that Rock/Cena is happening.

Oh the promos.

The issue I have with WWE bringing back older stars is they should simply be the icing on the cake rather than being the entire cake. With The Rock's recent return at Survivor Series it was all about the Rock and WWE were banking on him drawing all the money and the PPV surrounded him. No-one can tell me that The Rock was the icing on the cake that time. These older stars should come back every now and then to boost a PPV and to help a younger star but WWE shouldn't be relying on them to do all the business.

I agree with you. When Austin and Rock became big in the WWE, they didn't bring back old wrestlers. They relied on Rocky and Austin for ratings. I suppose they feel that their current roster isn't as popular and convincing as old school wrestlers. Either way, they should focus on making their characters and product interesting.

They should use these past stars to help put over the newer stars. Have Stone Cold or Rock endorse some of the new talent and help get them to the mainevent level.

WWE are getting themselves into big trouble if they continue to mask the issue with legends returning. Ratings are going to fall because there aren't as many stars as before but WWE need to take the loses in the short term for the long term gain. They need to spend more time on new stars and get the fans interested in them and then eventually once they are built more and more fans will tune in because they have become top stars. Focus on guys like CM Punk, Sheamus, Barrett, Bryan, Rhodes, Miz etc. and don't push Orton and Cena down everyone's throats because it can become overkill.
