Not to nitpick but the actual send-off was the weird ass CJ feud lol but at least it was something and I'm sure you were actually referring to him in the C2 right before which fucking ruled

Makes me think Taz's tweet about going out on your back when leaving elsewhere might have been a subtle jab? Could also be they refused to do a job on the way out so Tony was like "OK fuck you then"

Can someone actually find what the Fightful Report says exactly bc this implies the timeline was Penta told people he was going, then had injury time added for about two months, then he got worried they'd do it to Fenix so that was when he tweeted that clarification "my present is in AEW"

I don't really grasp anything new from that if it's what happened other than, like I said earlier, we'll probably learn the full timeline way down the line in pieces and by the time we do know what really happened, no one will care lol for example, through Tony and Ethan Page's comments, we've basically been able to piece together the timeline of his last few months that we had questions of at the time but by now no one actually cares

I don't wanna post the entire article as I don't wanna risk getting banned from the best $5 in wrestling. But it says is that Penta had injury time added (a few months) and the Fenix has considerably more time (6+3+3 which would be 12 months) that can be added, and they are expected to add injury time.

It says WWE is aware they will not be available for a while.

Not clowning this guy for asking or anything bc he seems just generally curious but could you imagine if injury time meant they worked for free :DEAD:

The issue wouldn't be guys aren't paid tho, even if they weren't trying to leave, but wanted to stay in AEW, it just keeps them at their current contract where they'd reasonably expect a higher rate for a new one. That was the original reason WWE was doing it I'm pretty sure

It's kind of like an option year but added on top cuz of injury. So.yes in that sense you'd get to use someone at a lower rate when they should be a free agent. Good point.

If I remember right, they did an legit option for Brian Cage but he pushed back on injury time added on top of it since he was already extended one year and that wasn't caught, he just signed for presumably higher when it was up after the options

People other than Tony Khan don't have strong feelings on the situation. As for Tony, Tony likes Rey Fenix. He's always liked and respected Rey Fenix. He just felt that if he let this thing slide that other people were going to start taking advantage of him and it was going to lead to a dam breaking. So they're fucked and Penta has another month I believe and Fenix has 9-10. Tony found out what the plan was for them on SmackDown by the way and that also informed this. Take a wild guess who leaked that one backstage in AEW.

Gotta disagree with that. I could fully understand it if it was a case of them just wanting out midway through a deal or whatever because they're aware of interest elsewhere, but not in the manner that it seems to be happening. Yeah it sucks for you they're turning down the contract offer and you know where they're headed but letting them go without adding on injury time isn't you being taken advantage of. Doing them a solid? Sure.
