What are these Dolphin shows? Are they the same as Donkey shows?

If the language can be learned I'm all for it. If it's possible for species to communicate I have no problem with giving them equality assuming they have a comparative IQ.

I assume they're just like circus shows where the dolphins are trained to perform tricks and such.

What the fuck is happening at these shows to be considered morally unacceptable?

It's just the fact that Dolphins are being used for entertainment when they shouldn't be treated as such according to these people. They're saying it would be like forcing a person to perform for others, not on their own accord.

Silly people, everybody knows those performances are warnings. Watch Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

These are people that think the cow is a holy animal.

The "holy cow" thing was started by politicians with vested interests. We have an entire political party in India against cow slaughter. Most states in India do have restaurants that serve beef dishes, and "Hindu Law" again, is based on Buddhism and not Hinduism. (Buddhists also eat beef. Which you probably already know because it is well known that the Buddha died of eating Pork.)

Me? I don't think it's holy. What I do think is that keeping a cow alive and healthy is way more profitable than slaughtering it within the span of a few seconds to cook up a meal.

I have no idea what the fuck the issue is. My family members say that those Dolphin show trainers are very friendly with the animals and that they are very well cared for. Even more so than some unfortunate African/Poverty-stricken Indian children.

Pretty sure pornography is a way more ethically devoid industry than this, child prostitution and labor are very harsh realities in this country. Why not focus on getting human being human rights instead, then we can think about dolphins and dolphin shows.

^It's the truth isn't it?

It's not really my meat, I prefer chicken or mutton, but political ideology and a neutral study of facts should be divorced from each other.

Ok now that we have that settled this thread is about Dolphins and whether or not intellectually we should give them the same types of rights as a human.

No we shouldn't.

Not until they manage to write a novel, direct a movie, compete in sports, construct buildings and maintain an entire civilization.

At least until then we shouldn't.

We cant even give rights to many people through racial, religion and sexual predjucies, as a society we force people to do things all the time for entertainment or cruelties sake. Dolphins considering they are a different species and haven't achieved anything worth note, no underwater dolphin cities, really don't have it that bad.

Dolphins are the smartest creatures on Earth besides humans. I would think if they had a problem with the shows, it would be relatively easy to notice. But they don't.

I've seen a few similar shows at Sea World and I'm not sure how they go down in India, but the ones I saw were seriously not abusive whatsoever. The Dolphins don't always cooperate, but they aren't punished when they don't. All they do is race around the tank, sometimes carrying a person on their backs. They do synchronized jumps and flips in the air. It's actually very impressive that they are smart enough to be able to learn that kind of stuff. It's no different than a dog show. You can also tell the Dolphins have a loving bond with their handlers.

The only types of animal events I have issues with are Rodeos and the Running of the Bulls in Spain. Those are the types of animal-related events that shouldn't still be happening in modern civilization because they're just so degrading and immature. And I come from a culture in North Texas, very close to the world-famous Mesquite Rodeo where legions of hillbillies pride themselves on being able to snare a poor baby cow around the neck from a horse's back and then tackle and hogtie it. Not to mention antagonizing the fuck out of a bull and then riding it for sport. I just find that kind of stuff heartless, appalling, and monumentally Blue. Not just for the people that do it, but also the idiot patrons who sit in the crowd and cheer it on.

Dolphin shows though... lol please. Those suckers have it good. They get fed all the fish they want, they get to play all day, they're kept in good health, and they'll never have to worry about being killed at sea by humans.
