5 million people don't watch Raw, Next Big Thing,
According to Nielsen ratings figures, Raw was watched by 4.7 million people during Big Ben's stint and was the second-most watched show on cable Monday night.

http://pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/s_646935.html

So a 3.3 rating equals 4.7 million people. Throughout 2009 Raw has been getting ratings between 3 and 4. So like I said, Raw is still being watched by roughly 5 million people every week.

and yeah they stopped watching in their teens and early 20's because the show sucked/Rock and Austin left.
I wasn't referring to the attitude era, just in general a lot of people stop watching wrestling around that age for a variety of reasons.

Even people still watching from the 80's and early 90's admit this.
I've been watching since the early 90's and I find the product today to still be good. But I think one of the reasons for that is that my expectations aren't as high as some people. I realize that since I have been watching for as long as I have, I'm not going to be shocked every week and see something groundbreaking. Like C4 said, he isn’t shocked by anything anymore because he feels like he has seen it all. So it’s not that the quality has drastically dropped, it’s just that after you have watched for so long it just isn’t going to have the same impact it did when you first started watching.

But then there are people that think the quality has dropped because there’s no swearing or blood today. To me swearing and blood isn’t quality, but I guess some people just have different tastes.

You wanna know the difference between now and the attitude era? Three letters-WCW. The ratings war was the reason the time between 96 and 99-2000 was so good. Both companies stepped things up majorly in terms of storylines, matches, and so on. They needed to evolve to stay ahead in the ratings war. Imagine how well the ratings war would have gone if WWE would have still had gimmicks like Mantaur, Aldo Montoya and Max Moon at the forefront.

Now we just sit and play the waiting game for TNA to step it's game up and begin a war :shifty:

Idk man, was pretty sure 3.3 wasn't that many people, but you could be right, oh well my bad.

I guess most that have stopped were from the Attitude Era though, since that was the peak of wrestling, they all decided to stop when the show became noticably toned down. That's just from my personal experience, I'm sure there's other's. Tbh, I don't even know if I'd still watch if it wasn't for guys like Hunter and Shawn and Undertaker (even though the deadman shit is pretty old) and of course Jericho. Edge/Christian when they return/are prominent.

But then there are people that think the quality has dropped because there’s no swearing or blood today. To me swearing and blood isn’t quality, but I guess some people just have different tastes.
I think more so people who grew up watching it when it was really cool (Attitude Era). We watched it because it was really cool and violent and you could actually somewhat be proud of watching the show.

You could say the EXACT same thing about wrestling back in 98, just like you could back in 88. But the difference between today and back in 98 is that it isn’t new for you like it was back then. So of course over the years you realize more and more how wrestling works and things become more obvious to you. It’s a major part of the reason why so many people stop watching wrestling when they get into their teens or early 20s. It’s also a big part of the reason why it’s smart to target the product towards kids to try and create new fans.

You've made a very clever point, didn't think of it before.

So basically they're going to target the product on kids and when those kids become teens they're probably going to loose interest in WWE because of all the same stuff happening over and over again and then the new kids of that generation will start watching eh? And those guys who don't have much expectations will continue watching as well even if they're adults.

Smart strategy to maintain their audience but it means that the same things will continue happening over and over again with some minor changes and the only major thing that's going to change will be the audience.

They should REALLY drop the PG rating, it's useless trying to target a wrestling product on kids.
the PG rating is the best rating for any product to get more INCOME. thats the main reason for the WWE to switch to PG. ...MONEY!

Will it be forever? Or until they are satisfied with what they got then turn it back to tv 14?

I think they are just changing the names, to get more PPV buys. Instead of having a big 4 and 8-10 "other PPV's....they want a big 12 PPV's, which can't work in my opinion.

I like the idea of a themed concept PPV. However the WWE is going overboard with it. I think a Elimination Chamber PPV should have ONE elimination chamber match. Same with HIAC. A submission PPV i can see it having more than one, because its like a traditional match. Myself personally I like some history behind a PPV/show. Like Survivor Series for example. I don't like 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 matches at all, but yet i look forward to the PPV. Why? Because it's a big 4 PPV. Many memorable moments and matches have occured at Survivor Series. You don't get that when you change the names every couple years.

And if you want a themed PPV, why not bring back King of the Ring.

It will be until these batch of kids that follow Cena, Hardy, Rey, Batista and others between the ages of four and eight turn fourteen plus and get to the teen ages where we now have to accomidate them to their likings and needs.

If you are going to have on special match for each ppv, whats the point of naming the entire ppv for that one match

IMO, icons of the attitude era are irreplacible. I see no one else gaining hype like our rocks, austins, takers, shawns, or HHHs ever again. I think thats the real reason why we are unhappy. We miss the guys being on WWE. TNA is full of great WWE alumni and for that we want them to grow and compete with WWE but they prolly wont. We watch DX say kick ur "butt" and we call WWE whack. We watch old shows and make ourselves believe that WWE has lost its "edge" its "sponaeity" but in fact the product has never really changed since 1980s. Just less appeal to 30 yr old goofs who are upset beacuse there is no more blood or there is no more swearing. Sure I would like to see those things but WWE has taken a turn for the good and we cant knock their profit because of our selfishness

...Hell, HBK was barely even a part of said era.
