Nah they are, they just don't want to get married I presume. In that case I see nothing wrong with double barrell surname if the parents want the kids to have both of their surnames.
So they're not even separated, they just don't want to get married?

Wow, I guess you hear something new every day.

Seriously?

You got people adding "IInd" and "IIIrd" to their legal names now? I mean, the Sr. and Jr. thing I can understand. I thought that IInd and IIIrd deal was only for the monarchical families. What are you, some kind of Egyptian ruler? I mean, in today's society, even in theory, the highest class is the ruling "aristocracy" seeing as to how the monarchical system of governance is all but dead.

I agree with you on the hyphenated name thing. It's a textbook case of genealogical confusion. If your very last name is colored with a hint of uncertainty, then...who are you?

Its quite common for couples to live commonlaw. My best friends parents only got married after his father was diagnosed with lung cancer, and only did it so that his father in-law would get the chance to walk his only daughter down the isle. They were together for nearly 40 years before that, and had 3 children.

I won't have my child getting his ass kicked at school when people make fun of his name being "Flacco" and calling him "Fucko". That little idea gets nixed long before I would ever consider hyphenating his name.

Please tell me you two are at least in different rooms while having this discussion..... if not, your future child may already be doomed

just playin with ya.......... 2 parents sitting across the room from each other sharing messages through a wrestling smarks forum instead of just talking, the kid's first words might come via text message and say something like "Change my diaper, if ya smell what I'm cooking"

If my kid learned how to operate a fine piece of technology before he could speak, I would be very proud of them. :Typing:
