I won't mourn Hulk Hogan, nor the man behind the character Terry Bollea. I grew up in a world of wrestling that he had no stakes in at all. I knew of his impact exclusively, and that is all of my attachment to the man. The man himself is Hulk Hogan, they are the same person and have been since the 80s. I cannot ignore the heinous shit Hulk Hogan has said about black people, how he promoted fascism and neo-nazism in modern day society, how he effectively screwed every single person he ever worked with over by ensuring an union could never happen and allowing very few people to rise up the card he was alongside. I will not mourn Hulk Hogan, I will not miss him. I do understand his contributions, but at the end of the day I can't ignore all of the bad to praise the good.
That being said, I will not be upset at anyone who chooses to mourn Hulk Hogan, the wrestling personality. People who grew up with him, who idolized the Hulkamania movement, the people who have had Hulk Hogan as one of their primary wrestling experiences growing up. That is not my business to judge at all, as those people are attached to the personality of Hogan and losing a childhood hero very much sucks. It is fine to be upset with the passing of the idea of Hulk Hogan, but I will not mourn neither Hulk Hogan or Terry Bollea because the majority of my time as a wrestling fan has seen him in his most negative form, an open racist.
