In the past decade the process of purchasing new music has changed dramatically. Physical sales have plummeted and overall sales aren't what they used to be. iTunes changed the market of buying music making it more convinient and also cheaper. There is also piracy as well which has a large portion of the market.

For me, someone who doesn't buy that much music, I will purchase singles that I like online through iTunes. If I like an album then I will go and buy the physical album so that I can play it in my car. The only music I have is what I have purchased.

So how do you obtain new music? Online, Physical, Download or other?

Most popular singles I buy through iTunes. I'm a relatively big believer in supporting the music industry that way.

Albums I want, which is rare for new material, I will go out and buy a copy or order a physical copy from amazon perhaps.

I do download music, in a manner that I won't confirm or deny the legality of, but only when it's obscure music I struggle to find in shops or when it's the likes of Pink Floyd who's music, whilst available in shops, is overpriced due the few number of hard copies compared to back at the height of their popularity. In these instances of obscure/older music though I have no guilt in downloading the music as I have supported that artist via merch sales anyway.

Still, no better safe, guilt free and easy way to obtain popular music these days than iTunes (Y)

Mostly I will download it. Like Killa said, I won't confirm whether it's legal or illegal, but that's the way I acquire my new music.

Download the vast majority of my stuff. Buy CDs for my car, but those are only CDs of my favourite bands.

Download not mentioning whether legal or not and occasionally buy....do not support bands who are majority successful and have heaps of money, and cry when sales go down, you're still loaded, only bands I will support is local, unsigned talent.
