HBK’s BTB Kolumn
Edition 4

The column? THE HBK’s BTB Kolumn? What the hell? What is this doing here? Well I’ve decided I’m going to be fucked to keep writing this. I’ve had fun doing it and well, it’s a pretty fucking awesome column. So let’s get right into it then shall we? This edition is a little slim, but Edition 5 is going to be a fucking blockbuster.

The theme song of todays column is:
Sex on Fire ~ Kings of Leon

HBK’s BTB Kolumn needs…YOU!

In my personal opinion, I think the column needs something a little more. I don’t know, something to give it that extra oomph. So please folks, suggest to me some new segments/suggestions for Edition 5!

HBK’s Booker King
Name changed because acronyms are FTW (See what I did there?)

This prestigious section shall be now dedicated to the man known as CT Styles and Elite Wrestling Society. There was a lot of build-up for this when he started, before it closed quite abruptly, but now he has started and it is fucking awesome. Still yet to type out a full show, but the little recap styles things he has been doing have really set up his BTB to be something spectacular. His first written out PPV should be sometime soon, and with his unique roster and the way he is going right now, EWS could be a BTB for the ages.

Ask HBK

X-Power said:
Who is your favorite booker as of now to not be a widley recognised IWF member, or to be precise, lets say under 250 posts...

CMS or Xtremebadass... who will be remebered as the better booker when they bothe retire and all is said and done?

Who has the most potential as a booker but just struggles to stick with a particular BTB?

Which will be the next BTB to get to the around 250 post level and above, like where Levi, Anigma, CMS and XBA are at now?

1-Under 250? The first name that comes to mind is THE Bicep. NEW is definitely on a roll right now in pretty much all aspects, so yeah, definitely James.

2-That is a toughy. I think this will always be one of those personal preference things, along the lines of Rock V Austin. Neither is clear cut better than the other imo, both are neck-and-neck. If one stopped before the other, whoever lasted longer would be the man to be remembered as the better booker. If they both though stopped roughly the same time, CMS. His name is plastered all over the awards, which for some new bookers would probably be the way they gauge who are the top bookers of the past, 3X Booker of Bookers and what not, so CMS.

3-Well this is easy. Beth Phoenix’s Ballsack, AKA GardsJr. He’s actually quite a good booker imo, but now he’s up to his TENTH BTB, that’s some kind of record. I give PWA all the best of luck, hopefully it pulls through to at least 1 show.

4-In the larger specturm of BTB, probably POI. It always gets the show up on time and it’s already got plenty of posts. NEW has built up a lot of momentum lately, and if it can keep going it could definitely reach it.

The Interview…

No this is no ordinary interview.

This is THE interview.

Forget what you thought an interview was.

Wipe it from your brain.

Has it been wiped?

Double check, have another wipe.

Okay, now prepare yourself.

For an interview.

With none another than.

Wait for it.

You’ll find out in due time.

Don’t get impatient.

Actually settle in, these random sentences could go on for a while.

That’s if anybody is actually reading them.

Which I doubt they are.

Okay, this is the last one then.

An Interview with The Anigma!

You've restarted WWE: The Commencement, what was your reason for returning to BTB?

The reason I decided to make the return to BTB would have to be the desire to write again. I left BTB for a variety of reasons but the main reason was that I was burnt out. I had a lot of ideas for The Commencement but I didn’t really have the feeling to write shows anymore so I decided to take a break. The decision to return was the drive to want to write and see if I can still create great shows.

After your break, did you notice any major differences between the BTB Section now and what it was before you left?

I noticed a few bookers changed their usernames…lol…I really haven’t seen many huge changes.

What do you think has made you such a successful booker?

I think my ability to adapt and make things work for myself with my BTB is what made me successful. Every time something came up and it looked as though my BTB was going to die I found a way to keep things moving and keep things fresh.

On IWF, who do you think has the potential to become the Next Big Thing in BTB?

At the moment, there are only a handful of bookers who have the potential to be the Next Big Thing in BTB but if I had to choose just one then I would have to say Brian Kendrick’s Biceps. I think NEW is a great BTB and BKB seems to be focused with this BTB and if he keeps putting on such good shows then I think he’ll be the Next Big Thing in BTB.

Who are your favorite superstars to use in matches and/or promos?

My favorite superstars to use in matches and/or promos are Triple H, Edge and Randy Orton because they’re so easy to write for. You don’t need to think very hard to come up with a great promo for those three superstars.

What keeps you motivated to continue your writing?

I really don’t know what keeps me motivated to continue my writing. I usually gain my motivation from reading other BTB’s.

What do you value more: Promos or Matches?

I value promos more than matches because while matches may be able to tell the story I still believe promos are more important because they can show you clearly who’s the heel and who’s the face as well as what’s going on between the two superstars. Matches are good but promos hold the weight of the storyline progressing forward.

Who on IWF do you feel is the most over & under rated?

As most BTB’ers know, I’m rarely if ever seen anywhere but the BTB section so I can’t say who’s the most over-rated /under-rated on the entire forum so I can only tell you who I feel is the most over-rated/under-rated in the BTB section. I feel as though the most over-rated would have to be CMS. Not to say that CMS doesn’t deserve the praise he receives, I just feel like a lot of the more new bookers praise him a bit too much. The most under-rated booker would have to be the same booker I said is the Next Big Thing in BTB and that’s BKB. He’s really improving in my opinion and I think he’s found his niche with NEW.

What do you think would be a better idea for a young, aspiring booker: to start a created promotion, or to start up there own version of WWE/TNA/etc..?

I think it’s a booker’s prerogative what type of BTB they decide to start. Some bookers prefer starting their own created promotion while others would rather create a TNA or WWE BTB.

What inspired you to being BTB?

The creativity that comes with doing a BTB. Well, the creativity that comes with doing a BTB and other BTB’s.

Finally, what advice do you have for any young bookers starting out?

Stick to your BTB. Don’t worry if you’re not getting any reviews in the first week or so and don’t worry if you’re talents aren’t being recognized by a lot of other BTB’ers. Stay with your BTB and in due time you will find success with it. The only time you should ever quit a BTB, in my opinion, is if you grow tired of it and it becomes more stressful than enjoyable for you to do.

Under the Spotlight
THE Brian Kendrick’s Biceps

NEW is to say the least, possibly my favourite new BTB. James is one of the many good Australian bookers and it seems New Era Wrestling is ascending with no plateau in sight.

BKB has had plenty of BTBs in the past (although he still isn’t on Gards’ level :roflmao:) but it seems NEW seems to be working perfectly, from the guys on his roster to just about everything else, all the cogs are moving in unison. From the start BKB said there would be some long planned out feuds, and looks like he was right.

From the first PPV, it seems NEW has been destined to be a hit. It’s actually already topped CMS & XBA’s respective BTBs, and reached the top of the Power 10, no small feat in my opinion.

Now there are always a number of contributing factors to the success and failure of any given BTB, but for BKB, his best attribute sticks out like Triple H’s nose and that is ability to write matches. BKB’s matches in my honest opinion are some of the best on the site, there is a reason he was best match writer at the last awards. James can write a match that is both entertaining and long without making it feel like it’s going on forever or becoming boring. NEW’s matches are really what have been setting it out from the pack.

The Slammys

Well apparently ‘the sparkling event’ has returned. I’m interested to see what’s going to happen, as I haven’t actually read a Slammys before. Anyway, here are my predictions for the Slammys:

Best BTB Show of the Month: This is definitely going to be a tough one. Levi has been doing recaps so I don’t think he’ll be in the running. Right now I see it as a three horse race between the veterans, CMS & XBA, and the newcomer, BKB. Not sure who will take it out, but I’ll put my cash on James. He shows have been consistent and regular, while XBA did have a short break after Unforgiven when he posted his updated roster and such which may cost him.

Young & Exciting Show of the Month: Pro Wrestling ANZAC.. But seriously, this award is much more out there than the first one. Right now, I see it coming down to EWS, IPW, and TNA: Cross the Line, which I see has been getting a lot of nominations. I’m yet to check out the EWS show (I’ll try and give a review CT) but it has been getting some rave reviews, and I’m going to have to put my money on that after reading the build-up for it, it appeared to be an awesome PPV CT put on.

Match of the Month: Right now, I see this coming down to the Goldberg vs. Undertaker match from Unforgiving (by XBA) or the EWS Elimination Chamber by CT Styles. I haven’t seen the EC, and in my personal opinion, I think the award should go to XBA and his Goldberg/Taker match. It was an awesome feud and was capped off by that incredible match, which is definitely deserving of the award.

Booker of Bookers: Another hard call, but I’ll lay this down to the flip of a coin and say XBA. I’m still surprised he has never won it, and I think this could be when he does.

Worst BTB: Oh this one is EASYY. GardsJr and GGX, or GardsJr and PWA. Whatever floats your boat tbh.

Well that’s it for Edition 4. I’ve got some pretty big ideas swirling around for Edition 5, hopefully it’s better than this one (it’s my worst one, I know. A little rushed and unorganised I guess ). Anyway, until next edition, be sure to check out Pro Wrestling ANZAC, cheerio.

Awesome column HBK, I really enjoyed reading it.

 that was funny. But yea, I liked the interview with Anigma. He comes off as that retired veteran that is a real professional at what he does. BKB's NEW is getting lots of attention, I agree that if he sticks with it, it could end up being the next big BTB on here.

Finally its up lol, it was long awaited and it was quite interesting to see what you had to say. The interview with the Anigma was quite good, and there is still alot of talk about BKBs NEW going around. Pretty good edition and next weeks should be good (if you get it up).

EDIT: Chessrmy = 8.5/10

Great column. BKB's NEW is definitely getting a name for itself throughout the section which is pretty cool. Looking forward to the next edition, HBK.

Chessarmy=8.5/10

My rating for Chessarmy is 7. He's pretty new right now and come up pretty quick. He also has a great knowledge of TNA so his BTB will probably go over great.

Also, I'm going to bring in some little competitions in the next edition. Not your average Match Writing or Promo Writing, some different stuff. Create-a-Matchtype and some fantasy booking.

If you want to be a part of any of these make sure to PM me as soon as I've decided on all of them.

I featured quite well in this 'Kolumn'. It's good to hear that people like what I'm doing, and hopefully I will be at the same level as xba and CMS one day.

chessarmy: 8/10. He's quite awesome.

Here's a new segment for next edition:

BTB Round-Table

Basically I'm going to round up some bookers, 5 at the most, and get them all together on MSN. Then I'll ask a question and they can all discuss it amongst themselves. I'll copy the conversation, although I'll obviously do some editing to make it clearer and such, then put it in the column.

So just post here or PM me with your MSN and you can be part of the BTB Round Table for Edition 5. It may be a constant 5, or if there is more interest expressed I might let different bookers in each time (up to my disgression)

So Far...

1-Gard Jr
2-King Lennie
3-Andrew~Walker
4-The Leviathan
5-Switchy

Roundtable Edition 6

1-Chessarmy
2-Headfirst for Hardcore
3-Beer

Competition Sign-Ups

No limit for these ones.

Create-a-match
Let your creative juices flow. Come up with a match we have never seen before. It could be simply a ladder steel cage match. Or it could be something bizarre like we see in TNA. Sign up now.

1-GardsJr
2-Roxxi Laveaux Fanboy

Fantasy Booking
In one of WWE's biggest public relations scandals snce Benoit, Triple H, the face of the company, was released after being found to have been using steroids for more than 6 years of his career, stemming from his first quad injury in 2001. Triple H's final match for the company was at No Mercy 2008, where he went over Jeff Hardy to retain the championship. The title was vacated the next night. The Smackdown writers wanted a fresh face on the belt, and there first choice was MVP. Many didn't feel he was ready to win the championship yet, and now it is up to you. It is the first Smackdown after No Mercy, and you must book MVP to become WWE Champion at Armageddon 2008.

There is only one rule, and that is MVP can not win the WWE Championship until that date. Otherwise, everything is up to you!

I'll sign up for Create-A-Match. I've created and used the match once before in WWR, but since most of you don't read it, gr, you'll get a window into my awesomeness.

I would sign up for the create a match thing but that would ruin my plans in my BTB with the match I have coming up lol. But thanks for putting me on the talk table thing :y:

About the competitions

I'm going to count them down week by week, until I get to the winners in Edition 10. Just so you guys know.
