When a horror movie meets a serious-as-shit movie, sorry, but I'm not voting for Freddy Krueger.

American History X for me.

Nightmare should have lost last round I don't see it making it this one.

Hated American History X, was a closeminded view on race relations that ultimately showed you that it was all fruitless to change.

Fuck that movie.

I don't see how it was a close-minded view of race relations at all. If anything, it was a very accurate portrayal of racist idiots. The guy that shot "John Connor" at the end didn't do it because he hated white people, he did it because the guy blew smoke in his face and disrespected him. I think you have a serious misunderstanding of that movie.

The guy shot Eddie Furlong because the oldest guy in his group was asking him to handle that whiteboy. Same type of characteristics that Ed Norton was saying earlier in the movie.

Even so, the guy was a total skinhead Hitler Jr. the day before he got shot. He couldn't just expect to take down his Nazi posters at home and have that drastic sudden change of heart and just expect everyone else to understand the very next day. I think the message was more along the lines of "if you venture down that path, it may already be too late for you", not this "unbreakable cycle of hate" that you seem to take it for. Ed Norton didn't just go right back to being racist after his brother was killed by a black guy. Maybe if he had, your synopsis would be more accurate.

The ending was lead to believe that Ed Norton's character didn't want any comfort from the principal at that school. How else am I supposed to interpret that?

My synopsis is my synopsis, it's not like there is a captioning at the end that says "Stop the hate" or something stupid like that.
