Do you guys believe in ghosts or the unexplained? I do i do not know why, but it is very narrow minded of us not to think there is nothing after death. I think i saw a ghost once in work, as if was about to walk up the stairs i looked up and an old man who looked a bit like Abe Washington with a tall hat on was there smiling at me. I blinked and he had gone. Has anyone had any experiences or know things about the paranormal or the unexplained?
Do you believe in it? If so or not explain why.

What do you mean by the unexplained?

There are quite a few things on Earth that cannot yet be explained. Are they supernatural in nature, no. Look at history. Every case of the unexplained that was eventually explained had a perfectly logical explanation and everything that is yet to be explained will have the same. It is just a matter of proving it.

Also, no, I do not believe in ghosts. I do not believe in God or an afterlife so there can be no such thing as ghosts.

How do you reconcile your lack of faith in God and belief in spirits?

I don't understand. It seems to me like these two ideas would contradict one another.

That maybe true. God was made up obviously. I mean ghosts i do believe are the afterlife of us when we die. Now if you saw one say... In your house now. What would you do?

Yes I do believe in ghosts. I've had an experience of my own with a ghost.

My sister's deceased friend was haunting me and my step brother. Throughout that night weird shit was happening. Mostly to my step brother but I eventually started to get weirded out myself. In my house there was still the picture of my sister's friend under the tag missing. I looked at the picture and read his full name out loud. Instantly the lights flickered a few times and we were out the door. This was years ago and I haven't had any incidents with ghosts apart from that.

Wow now that is creepy dude. I do not see why people do not believe in them. But yet believe in god?

There would be more than one rational explanation for seeing spirits. Hallucinations brought on by stress, tiredness, mental disorders, drug abuse...

If somehow one could rationally rule out all of those possibilities (which in actuality is near impossible) then I would be confronted with the fact that ghosts exist and I would be forced to alter my world view. But like I said, there are rational explanations for everything.

Much like here there are rational explanations for everything he experienced. However some choose to make something out of nothing for a variety of reasons.

Okay. Usually random weird shit doesn't just happen to people. I have virtually no electrical problems and the lights flickered right after I said his name. Not a damn coincidence. If I had electrical problems and the lights didn't flicker that quickly than it would probably be a coincidence. It was definitely in response to me mentioning his name.

There is nothing to suggest that it is not coincidence. It is entirely possible that there was a power surge at that moment. Is it a long shot? Sure. But it is considerably less of a long shot than the idea of a ghost toying with the electricity.

However you have convinced yourself that it was a spirit so it is pointless to try and get you to understand that you cannot rationally dismiss the logical possibilities presented to you. It makes no difference anyway. Belief in spirits is generally harmless if not misguided.

I've never thought of ghosts and "God" being related at all. I think ghosts could exist without the belief of god. It'd be a alternate ending to one's existence on the planet. Instead of going to the 'pearly whites' you would instead be left to wonder the planet as nothing more than a spirit, with possibly a reason (maybe not). I dont know man, I think it's possible.

I'm not a religious person, though I suppose there is a 'greater being' watching over this, and that 'bad people' go to 'hell', and 'good people' go to heaven. Saying this, I still kind of believe in ghosts. I've never had any experiences myself, but I still believe it's possible.
