Dunno about Ultimo, he still runs DragonMania in Mexico every once in a while, so he might still be on it.

All Japan held a press event at the SKY Perfect Tokyo Media Center for the upcoming “3rd Annual Oudou Tournament ~ 2015 Open Championship“.

All Japan kicked off the upcoming tournament by showcasing a press conference in which 15 out of the 16 wrestlers took part, albeit Shuji Ishikawa from UNION was absent. The main photo session saw the wrestlers lining up with their opponents in the first round matches.

The current reigning Triple Crown Champion Akebono and Suwama showed early signs of their grudge continuing. As they had to be held back from each other after an exchange of words which led to them pushing one another. The two could potentially meet in the second round of the tournament on 9/19. Which at this point seems highly probable.

Last years winner Go Shiozaki stated that he aims for a consecutive victory this year as he aims for another chance at the Triple Crown belt. Akiyama though is his opponent in the first round and the two have had heated moments between the two specifically this year. Akiyama stated the he knows he has had little luck in the tournament in the past, making it no further than the second round, but aims to break that streak this year. Shiozaki expects a fight tomorrow against Akiyama and it could very well be a highlight of the show as the two look to bring their best.

A bit of emphasis was put on Yuji Hino and Zeus who will face-off in the first round against one another. Of course this will mark the first match for Zeus under All Japan as a full-time wrestler. Hino though on the other hand will be making his first appearance in nearly 10 years, 9 years and 7 months to be exact. Hino stated that he has grown tremendously since his first time in All Japan and is eager to face the bigger wrestlers, heavyweights, in All Japan. Zeus on the other hand stated that he has much to prove as he joined All Japan and has his eyes deadset on challenging for the Triple Crown belt.

An open letter was released by Shuji Ishikawa as he stated that he is grateful for the opportunity to take part in the upcoming tournament. He said that he has respect for Takao Omori, who he faces in the first round, but he is coming with all his force to achieve success in the All Japan ring. He aims to prove himself as among the best of the strong men in Japan today as he pursues a chance at the Triple Crown belt.

The tournament is set to begin tomorrow, 9/10, and will run throughout the rest of this month.

Just watched Go Shiozaki & Kento Miyahara vs Jun Akiyama & Takao Omori from AJPW's Summer Explosion.
Holy fuckamole, what an unbelievable match! I don't remember watching a better tag match in 2015 than this one. This one ruled the fucking world!

I also watched Ultimo Dragon vs Kotaro Suzuki, which was very good.

NOAH is being completely cuckolded by new japan. Suzuki-gun are taking the belts back to New Japan apparently and it seems like the next challenger will be whoever wins the Global League... getting a shot at Wrestlekingdom, and whoever is IWGP junior champ faces Taichi for the GHC junior belt...At Wrestlekingdom...

NOAH's faith to be decided....on a non NOAH show....

What

Some more shake ups in Dragon Gate.

The new Unit ( Takagi, Kotoka, Eita, Doi, Cyber, Mondai & Yamato) will be known as VerserK and their official color is red. The entire unit then turned on Eita later on in the show and kicked him out.

trouble is still brewing in the Jimmyz as Tanizaki (who was not happy with K-Ness joining) has started lashing out at the other members. He was carried out of the arena by Dr. Muscle after being pinned.

T-Hawk got offered a spot in Dia Hearts by Big R but declined, saying that he would rather be on opposite sides with Big R and build a rivalry for the future. He then asked to join Monster Express and was accepted after some polling of the crowd.

Quadrapost.
Tomorrow marks the end of the 3rd royal road tournament from All Japan. It will air on TV so it'll be up on the internet after a while. Kenta Kobashi will be the special guest commentator.
The semi finals are as follows:
Jun Akiyama faces K-Dojo's Yuji Hino
Akebono faces Union's Shuji Ishikawa. Winners then face off in the final at the end of the night.

Also on the card will be a multi man tag featuring the eliminated competitors from the tournament and a special 6 man junior tag previewing the upcoming Junior Hyper Tag League that starts in October. As well as undercard matches of course.

Jun/Ishikawa pls, Jun over Bono for TCC pls, Kento to dethrone Jun on V6 pls.
How likely do you think it would be that either Shuji or Hino goes all the way? I've been throwing around the idea in my head of Shuji winning it all and then winning the Triple Crown from Akebono and holding it hostage as an outside invader. Could make for a swell angle and he could be built up nice as a monster through the Carnival after which Kento wins it back to AJPW.

Just have to put this out there - Yoshihiko is the best thing in Japan, right now.

Bort, you see how much destruction he did in that Battle Royal at Peter Pan? :heenan:

If Jun had defeated Shuji in the final, then the upcoming TC match would be more intriguing, but now I just don't see Bono losing twice in a row to Jun.
